ANNUAL TRACK DAY, Friday Aug 20th
ANNUAL TRACK DAY, Friday Aug 20th
Some of you remember last year when my VW/Audi club reserved Second Creek Race Way for an entire day for private sessions. Well, we are doing it again. They had so much fun trying to keep up with all us MINIs, they want to invite it again. My buddy Pat is handling the payments, like he did last year, so you can either go through me, or through him directly. This is a great weekend, a full private day at the track, closed to the public, many canyon drives, BBQ's, etc. So, I am putting this up here to spark interest early, and to get your reservations secured down. I know I will be there, and unless there are major races that weekend, I am sure I can count on Randy attending as well. About 30% of the cars last year were MINIs...lets do better this year, and no excuses that you did not have enough warning, I am giving you 2 months to adjust your schedules....so see you at the track on Friday, August 20th..
cheers, jon.....attached is the info from Pat
Track Day ~ 2nd Annual RMCB5 National GTG
Rocky Mountain Club B5 is having our annual GTG from Friday, August 20th to Sunday, August 22nd.** We are renting Second Creek Raceway for the entire day (8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.) for $2,000. We expect to have 20 to 35 participants. The more people that come, the less it is per person. If 30 people show, it'll be $67 per driver. If 40 people show, it'll be $50 per driver. Normally it costs $100 per driver for a full day, so this should be a great opportunity to get out there and have some fun. All money paid will go to SCR. In other words, Rocky Mountain Club B5 will not make money on this.
The event is open to all friends and family of RMCB5.* If you know of any others that would like to go, feel free to invite them.
I will be handling the financials. If you'd like to go, please post here and I will send you an e-mail with payment information. If you have any questions, please post them here so others can see the response, too. In order for this to work we need a financial commitment. I need to have $2,000 no later than Saturday, July 31st.* I am required to have the money available for SCR, since I'm the one signing the contract. I wish I were in the financial position to front the $$$ for everyone, but alas....
I'm asking for people to submit $100 initially. Assuming there are more than 20 people that attend, you'll get a refund of the difference within a week or two after the event. The amount of the refund depends solely on the number of participants.
Track Prep:
Be sure to bring plenty of water and ice, food to share, chairs, sunscreen, stopwatches, digicams, and videocams.
Some other things you'll want to check on your car are oil, brakes and tire pressure. Be sure to come with a full tank of gas, too!
I will have a few canopies set up for shade.
Anyone that goes on the track is required to wear a helmet. If you don't have one, see if you can find one to borrow before track day.* If you can’t come up with one don't worry. Chances are there will be a couple extras there and you'll be able to borrow one.
Last year we had around 22 drivers and we had all the track time we could stand.* The track will easily support 30 drivers, so there is no need to be concerned with having too many people there and not getting enough track time.* This track day is open to all members of RMCB5 as well as any family and friends.* We hope to have a significant number of MINIs and older VWs show, too.
We hope to have four collapsible tents/shelters there, but it’s a good idea to bring something to sit on.* Of course you’ll want to bring plenty to eat and drink.

Jonathan and Brad, glad you all will be joining us, it was so much fun last year, and we expect a bit larger turn out this year. And with all the improvements on the MINIs that everyone has made, I doubt any of the Audis or VWs will be able to keep up...who needs quattro, hehehe
Jeff, that would be awesome if you can make it...everyone is welcome!!!
Jonathan, I received your check in the mail just today, thanks for sending it so quickly. I let Pat know, and you are confirmed. He may not deposit it right away as he is collecting them at this time.
I am glad that you all are showing so much interest in this event, nothing like a private day at SCR....

For those of you that are interested in joining in on this awesome track day, a private session for over 12 hours at Second Creek Raceway...maybe one of the last seasons there as the new track is being planned....send me either an email or a PM here and I will send you my address. You can make out the Checks to Pat Mickelson and then just mail it to me...I see him regularly enough, and it will also help me track who from NAM/MINI5280 will be coming. I can also send you a confirmation that the check was received, where Pat might not be as likely to do so. Remember, reservations and a check must be received by July 31st in order to ensure a spot for the track.
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

Just a reminder...Reservations for anual track day are due by the end of this month. We are almost at the cut off point, and unlike last year, we will not be letting people show up on the day of the event and drive...it is a reservation only event. That is the joy of having payments in early.
If you are interested and intent to join us on the 20th, make sure to contact me ASAP for payment info...several people from here have sent money in, so there will be a lot of MINIs there to dominate the track!!!!
Hope to see as many of you out there as possible.

Oh yeah, and just a reminder, Webb Motorsports will be there in full force, providing some minor support, but mainly for some driver's ed classes and private instruction. This is a free service to all those who pay the $100 registration fee. So there is an added bonus, 10-12 hours of track time, and private instruction by Randy Webb...what can be better than that? Time is running out, only a few spaces left for everyone...make sure to contact me ASAP if you are intending to join us so I can reserve your spot.

Only a few more days to get your reservations in...looks like we might be able to squeeze in about 5 more people, but as soon as we hit that number, we are locking things out, and not letting anyone else sign up. We want to keep the numbers reasonable so that we have as open of a track as possible.
If you are still on the fence about a space, remember to have your money in on the 31st to me...email me or PM me for address....and who to make the check out to. After the 31st, we will not accept any more registrations.
Remember, Randy from Webb Motorsports will be there for some free driver's school classes and instruction for all those participating.
Hope to see more of you out there, we have 7 MINI's going so far.
cheers

We will be having 2 Race teams out there, Webb Motorsports and Snyder Motorsports as well. They run the SRT4s, and those are wicked fast...not like the 1:08 the Audi guys were running last week in the ASW GT3 car, but that thing is at least as quick as the Mule...should be awesome for learning and fast rides.
17 days and counting until we get the track to ourselves!!!!
cheers
