Need help in determining what NOS motor I have...
I purchased a 2005 Mini JCW new and loved the car! In early 2007 I purchased a "brand new" 2006 Cooper S engine from the dealer. The engine has been sealed ever since I purchased it. It is part # 11000392950. The dealer even stated it was "brand new".
I currently only see rebuilt engines with the part number and not new (NOS). Is the part number the same for both new and rebuilt?
The reason I am asking is I sold my 2005 and am going to be selling the motor soon since I have no use for it, but want to confirm if it is NOS or a rebuilt. It is still sealed in the plastic and is bolted to the original crate.

Not sure if anyone will be able to give you a firm answer, but if you bought the motor in 2007 I'd guess it's a new motor. My guess is they don't have any more new stock now so they are remanufacturing now.
Mini 42...That would be one fast gokart! lol
Good to see a fellow Texan. I'm in The Woodlands area.
Mod-Mini Yes, that sounds about right being that the motor was a new one until the stock ran out and then they sold them as rebuilt.

May I ask why you bought a whole extra motor?

The car was originally owned by a neighbor, who bought it new and liked the car so much, that he purchased an engine from the factory to install at 100,000 miles or even use it to build a modified engine for the 2005 car. However, he fell on hard times after 2008 and I purchased the car and the engine. I have recently sold the car and have no more need for the engine.
No, I have not put a price on the motor. My wife saw it in the garage a couple of weeks ago and said if you are not going to use that motor, you need to sell it. It was purchased by the original owner from a local mini dealer in the spring of 2007 and has been sealed ever since.
The only downside is it's now 7 years old. I'd be worried about how the seals aged and what the cylinders look like. There's also the warranty and documentation that comes with buying one from the dealer.
I'm not knocking your engine. I'd just take those factors in when it comes to pricing it. Maybe someone will catch your wife on the right day LOL and she'll say $500 get that thing out of here.

I'm still trying to find out if mine is a NEW motor vs. Rebuilt since I paid for a NEW motor. I'm sure there has to be a way of telling some other way?
