Not a surprise, but trade-in is rather disappointing. I paid close to $40k when bought new, loaded with nearly every option.

Assuming you frequent these boards often (I have not) and have seen some being bought and sold, how much have these been going for?

Thnx

depends on a lot, mileage etc. IMO the '11+ turbo cars are much more desirable, kind of screwed over used pre '11

Thnx for the info. As I haven't stayed current, could you tell me what the '11 model brought?

I bought mine about a month ago from a dealer for 15k. I think that was about 4k less than KBB. It had 48,000 miles.

Yeah I'd say somewhere between $15k and $17k depending on condition/mileage/etc. These cars don't hold their value well at all. IMHO all german cars are like that. Ever seen prices on used mercedes?

For 'S' models in 2011 there was an Engine update. So far proving they were more reliable. Power was boosted slightly as well.

For 'JCW' models that switch happened for 2012 models. Better engine design, no power difference.

'13 for the JCW. The '12s still had the N14.

Incorrect-ish. If it was built July or after the Engine in a 12 JCW is an N18. If prior possible N14.

It's a split. It was introduced in mid July of 2012. So there's some 12s with N14s and a few N18s.

If it helps any I just bought a 2009 fJCW (from what I can tell from a couple pics I took and comments on here, need to check for sure after deployment) at the end of July 2014 with 60,000 miles .

It's largely a base JCW (no packages, just driving lights I think) and bought it for $17k. From everything I used from various sites for values that's a bit better than an average price, although some listed sales as low as $15,500 (and some over $19,000) for the base. If yours is loaded I'd say range it about $2k over that, maybe?

Just bought a 09 hard top, no sunroof 17K miles, stripes, chili, leather, no dual climate, but heated seats, 18inch JCW wheels for 19K.

I think I paid 1K to much for what it's worth....

I just sold my 2009 JCW with 38,000 miles for $17,500. Took about 4 weeks to sell.

I was offered only 13K for mine from Carmax with 56K miles on it and is fairly loaded. I declined and 4 days later the clutch failed. That was a nice #$%@ you for added benefit.

I ended-up trading it in for a measly $12,500 with $36K~ish miles; with the tax credit towards the new car netting close to $14K. That included stock rims with snow tires mounted on them, and the OZ Ultraleggeras with summer tires that were on the car.

Reasoning for that instead of trying to sell on my own like I thought I would...

There were a number of paint and ding problems and I didn't see myself getting them fixed. It spent about 1/3 the year parked on the streets of NYC, and it didn't fair well at all from that, with cab doors being opened on it, or school kids or other SOBs sitting or leaning on it when it was on the street.

It was like the thing was made of tin foil, dented and dinged so easily; one dent on the rear hatch was from me closing the hatch with my thumb, another longer dent was from me using my forearm. Seriously bad steel used on the outside of these; like a 1970s japanese car.

And I had two Shiba Inus that I would travel with often. There was enough hair intertwined in the carpet that I could make another dog.

And the damage to the rear hatch and bumper paint from one of those rear-hatch Saris bike racks? Ugh. Grime would get under the foot sitting on the rear bumper and act like sand paper grinding it down; and the straps that clipped to the rear hatch would crack off the paint. Thank god my next car's bumper is so small I could never be tempted to use one again.

So as my motto is "why do today what I can put off to tomorrow", thinking I'd never fix what was ailing it, and thinking the car I bought (a Volvo V60 Polestar) was coming mid-Sept, I traded my Little Buddy in early the 1st weekend of Sept. Then, like a swift kick in the ****, the following Tuesday I got an e-mail from my salesman that Volvo NA has sent him an e-mail to confirm my car would be arriving Nov 19.

At least I had 3 other cars to fall back on. I really miss my Mini.
