2013 JCW Coupe

I have a 2013 factory JCW coupe. Wondering if I will get much of a performance gain with a CAI. I have been looking at the NM kit. What mods will gain the most bang for the buck. I have been told that the JCW CAI and exhaust are great as they are and wont see much of an increase. Disclaimer, I'm a mechanical moron.

I doubt there is any gains to be seen, just louder intake and turbo noise. My car sounds like a 6 flags ride with all the pfffttt shhhhhtttttsst and whistles from the intake.

NM does not make a CAI, they make a high flow induction kit, which some people might claim semantics but it really is a more accurate name.

Whatever you call them they are only good for added noise (of the turbo). Some might actually decrease performance.

The only exceptions might be the ones that use the hood scoop, such as AEM, or the DOS one that requires a hole cut in the firewall/bulkhead.

Any gains from an intercooler. For some reason after looking on this forum I feel the need to MOD something.

If you want more power get a JB+ from Burger Motorsports. This is a must have for people that have a N18 engine (which you do) and don't want to hack the ecu.

Intercoolers are good for making any power gains safer.

Helix or Forge make good ones. Some people like the ebay specials.

This thing sounds too good to be true. How can it give more power with the same gas mileage? And what's that disclaimer spiel on the website that says it's only for use on a racetrack? Is that just for California buyers?

The JB+ is really good. The only other option is a Manic tune, which is done thru the ODB2 port. They are available in NJ and you would have to check any other state. Otherwise you have to mail in your DME.

The gas mileage will stay the roughly same unless you always have your foot in it. I average 27mpg.

There is probably a few hundred people that are happy with it. I've never heard of a complaint.

The racetrack blurb is a legal thing for California. It's not CARB approved.

I think I'll get one of these. They now have something similar for the new F56 engine. He said it's not the same connection but it's equally easy to install. The website says put it at 35-40% if you have the JCW engine like I do. The Coupe forum on this said a few people's engines ran 30 degrees hotter with it but others did not. I don't have a thermometer I on my 2014 I don't think.

The burger site just states for n18. But doesn't distinguish between non JCW and JCW. since OEM JCW is already "tweeked" would I still get the increase ?

Thoughts?

Regards.

Yes you would, but run 93 octane if available and open the box and turn the dial down to 30% to start with. IMHO, the factory JCW is more than "tweaked".

FWIW, I have my JB+ at default on my JCW HT running Califonia 91 gasoline without any problems.

I'm running mine around 40% but have seen that at least 2 are running them at around 80% and one guy at 100% w/ the JCW. Are there others? I've had 0 problems with mine on this car or my old 2011 MCS.

They also might be using an E85 mix or other higher octane fuels.
