Question for all former JB+ owners now running Manic Tune...
Was it worth it in regards to performance increase, drivability, sustainability?
Is there an instant change between tunes when switching with the SPS switch, or do you have to run for about 50 miles like the JB+?
Im thinking of running the Manic Stage 2 tune. My R56 currently meets the requirements with FMIC, DP, High Flow Exh., etc.
Looking for more power, but without unnecessary risk, like turning up the dial on my JB+.
Also, if I switch the tune back to stock via SPS, will the Dealership know it has been tuned?
Thanks....

Changing the maps is instantaneous and there is no need to drive it in like the JB+.
If you change it back to stock then the dealership will not know that you have a tune but if they really want to they will see that the ECU has been rewritten but that shouldn't happen. If the dealer updates the ECU the tune will be gone and you would have to get retuned. As I had my GTI with Revo stage 1 I would tell them not to update the ECU and never had problems with it.
Feel free to ask me questions on the tune. I'm running Manic's stage 2 but mine is more of a custom tune since I was one of the Beta testers in Cali.
It's 100% worth it. I didn't feel as if the JB+ was able to use the full potential of all my mods (catless dp, high flow exhaust, intercooler, intake, meth injection) and turning it to 100% made the gas pedal feel like an on/off switch. With the manic tune I have power in the entire rev range and the throttle is more linear. There is no difference with the sport button besides better throttle response, stiffer steering and the pops (I have the N18)

So that's +1 for Pros (Thanks Phipu91)
Any more Pros, or Cons???
Don't get me wrong, but the JB+ completely transformed my car.
Now switching to the Manic Tune was a whole new level. I ran my JB+ at 18psi but after 5k it felt like the turbo was running out of breath. I thought the turbo was the problem being too small but I guess I was wrong. I have a stage 2 Manic Mini and Performance Map B gave me 215whp and 241wtq on the Stock Cooper S Turbo! Wow, it pulls all the way to redline! Torque monster. Now I am on Performance Map C with meth, Nick estimates ~225+whp ~260wtq on the Stock Turbo! Yes it was a big difference switching from Map B to C. And the coolest part is that map switching takes literally 1 second. You can switch maps while the car is on and even driving. Much how like pushing the sport button changes the characteristics of your car, but this is much more dramatic. I usually show people my stock map, 189whp 213wtq and switch to Map C to ~225+whp ~260wtq and they are amazed what 1 second can do to transform your car. Nick programmed a linear throttle for me so I am not boosting 18-19psi on half throttle like it used to and so I can launch the car better. He also removed the speed limiter for me. With the Manic Tune my car eats up the speedo. So far the car did 153mph without a problem and don't have to wait long to get there. With the JB+ I would get to 130mph maybe 135mph and 140mph if I had a lot of run way. But with the Manic Tune it just eats and will easily hit 150+. Will do 160mph but haven't had the ***** yet lol.
No regrets! and will try to get an updated dyno sheet soon!

After reading thought the other thread, I don't think there is anyone anywhere near Texas to get the Manic tune. Sucks!

Maybe you can get your tune sometime soon!
Awesome info. I'm getting pumped up just reading these responses. I am a fan of the JB+, but with no JB4 in sight I feel Its time for an upgrade.
What's the news on Launch Control, are any Manic Tuned MINIs running it?

When you guys say tuned for Meth: what is this exactly? Is it tuned on a DYNO , or just tuned to run at higher octane levels?
Im just running a single Nozzle for decreased IATs. Wondering how much more power this tune can add with my set-up...
Makes sense
That's what im looking for. We have similar Mods besides your HS4 set-up. I'm running my SP controller based on Boost. Hoping I will be able to produce similar numbers in the end.
Have u had any trouble with it?! Im down in San Antonio, im nervous about getting tuned from a guy in Dallas, if anything gets messed up, thats a loooong wayy...
Your actually getting tuned by a guy in England but flashed by a guy in Dallas... Nick from Manic does the tunes based on your mods. The dealers are really the transfer point for the tunes. I am sure you know how the process works but you would need to have your ECU read, this would involve a trip to Dallas. Then your ECU file is sent to Manic and they perform the tune and send the dealer back the file. Then the dealer would flash your ECU. So no matter how you look at it, you are going to be making two trips to Dallas. I would reach out to Tony as I know he has coordinated the reading of ECU's while he has traveled throughout Texas. If he is in your area for some reason, he might be able to read your ECU. The tune is well worth it! Tony is a great guy and former Mini tech so he knows Mini's. Very well know in the Dallas/Ft. Worth. There are some dealers that are really only individuals that know how to use a PC and can flash an ECU, but have no experience working on any type of cars, let alone a Mini.
I love my current tune but will be upgrading to the JCW turbo and upgrading my tune.
