They were ordered for a hardtop without a sunroof. However they will fit any R56. They will also lower any non-JCW package car and stiffen it over stock or sport springs.

I tried doing a quick search on UPS, and probably around $80 - $90

I uploaded one on the first post. It's brand new, never installed.

The two bushings for the bar are also in the picture. (in the plastic)

You must keep in mind that the spring rates *are* different for different optioned cars, e.g. sun roof vs. no sunroof. This *will* effect the handeling of the car if the wrong spring rate is used. BTW, can you give me a shipping quote to 28203? Note I did not ask for a range, but an actual number.

Yes, I understand that they have different rates.
There are no "wrong" spring rates, only that which matches your intentions for how the car should handle.
Do you have any published numbers on those spring rates?

Shipping to 28203 is $35

Hmm, I don't know anybody who whould want to *decrease* the handeling of their car. But back on topic.... The spring rates are the million dollar question - nobody has published any reliable rates. Pm'd you.

How do you know it will decrease the handling of the car? No one even knows the rates.

PM'd you.

So, let's think about this. Let's say you get the springs for a car with a sunroof and put them on car without. There is about 60+ lbs. due to the sunroof, which yields a higher center of gravity. My guess (based on my engineering background and racing experience) is the spring rate is higher for the sunroof car (as you pointed out - not a lot of info available about the rates). BMW knows this, hence the different part numbers.
So now, you probably have a car and spring combo that is not within it's natural frequency. The suspension is a system of the car, springs, dampeners, sway bars AND the environment in which the car is driven. Optimally, they should all be in sync for the best handleing. Anything outside of this, leads to suboptimal or worse handleing.

So you're telling me you would be able to feel the difference between the springs that went on a sunroof car and a non-sunroof car? Remember that even with +- 60lbs, the springs are NOT even 60lbs different by spring rate.

And on top of that, youre saying that if you don't get the appropriate springs, the JCWs would make your car WORSE off than stock or sport suspension?

I wonder why Eibach, H&R, etc do not make spring rates for every option... HMMMMMM.

1) Yes, I can tell the difference, especially on a smooth track or autobahn, or rough undulating surfaces.

2) Yes, it can. That was the whole point of my above post. Optimal handling is a result of the system in balance.

3) Scale of economies. BMW can do it; H&R and Eibach cannot.

I'm out....

Wow, good luck with your build. I'm not sure why you're even buying JCW springs. You're buying them on the assumption that JCW tuned those spring to match your driving style and needs. You have NO idea what the spring rates are and are making pretty large claims as to their performance.

Facts are: they lower the car, they are stiffer than stock.

By these two facts alone, I know that they will make any mini handle better than stock.
