Plastidip headlight ring

Hey guys so I am thinking of plasti dipping my headlight rings.. I have the Mini Cooper r50 2002 plate and taking the rings off seems a bit of a ball ache I have no tools to take the headlights out to then remove the rings, if anyone can suggest a more simple way I will. But my plan is to plastidip the rings, do I need to try and mask the headlight lamp itself or shall I just simply spray over the whole headlight and then try and peak off the excess plastidip on the lamp and leave the rings? Thanks

Mask the rings only. That eliminates breakin the clips. Worked for me - twice. Good luck.

I'd probably mask a few cm from the ring on either side, making sure to mask a wide area of the bonnet, bumper, etc. Plastidip peels off easy in sheets, but if you get fine over spray around you'll probably end up using a clay bar to get it all off. Not masking too closely will allow you to peel around the ring when the plastidip is still not completely dry and if done correctly it'll tear off at the ring and leave a nice edge.

I masked everything around the rings including the headlight. It's the easiest method without breaking anything during a ring removal. Being **** masking the area between the headlight/fender and the ring will pay off in appearance.

Cover the headlights and be patient, slowly and surely you will love it. Good luck.

I did it once, but you are better to just mask it, otherwise your just waisting plastidip because you will want to put the same number of coats over your headlights for an easy removal
