2004 MCS Power delivery

I just moved from a stock 2003 VW GTI (1.8T) 5 speed and it felt a lot more powerful and responsive than my mini. My 04 MCS runs perfect but I thought it would have more get up and go. I can do a burn-out but it takes a lot more revs (about 5K) than my GTI. I know they are different cars--just saying. Does anyone else have to keep the RPMs way up to get it to perform a little frisky?
