Bird poop paint etching questions for paint experts
Bird poop paint etching questions for paint experts
I have had bird poop etching on both of my MINI's with poor results at attempting to remove the stains. My question is what is it with MINI paint that this etching occurs? I have had multiple Hondas and currently own a Lexus all of which sufferred bird poop bombing but DID NOT result in etching of the paint. I am admittedly OCD about my cars appearance, apply paint sealant three times a year, use a spray wax after washing, and usually claybar once a year. Is MINI's paint more porous than other paints? If there are any paint experts out there I would appreciate your input.
Thanks in advance

Not an expert, but given enough time I've found any car can etch from bird droppings. I didn't catch the before, but here was the spoiler on my EVO after I took a porter cable to it. Perhaps that's the next step to remove your etching?

I carry a 32 oz spray bottle of distilled water with 2oz of Optimum No Rinse car wash. When the poop hits, I spray it ASAP. Let it soak for a short bit and then blast it off with the same sprayer. Prevents burning and etching until you can properly wash it off. ONR will neutralize the acids in the poop.
