towing with an F56?

Just curious if anyone has or plans to tow with their F56? I think it would be nice to pull a dirtbike, quad, or set of track wheels for some of the autox guys.

The diesel could probably tow a light load, but I wouldn't advise trying this with the gas engine.

People tow light loads like you describe all the time with the gen1 and gen2 MINIs.

that's what I'm thinking a small light weight single axle aluminum trailer is ~300 lbs and a race quad like a 450R is ~400 lbs. I'd bet under 1,000 lbs would tow just fine behind a F56 MCS

Europeans tow light loads with their cars all the time. Probably helps with a diesel, but I don't see an issue.

You may want to check out MiniFini.com. They have designed and built bike racks, tow hitches, etc. for MINIs for years. They are usually at the MINI In The Mountains events every year doing installs of their products.

I'm hoping cooper crap makes a similar hitch to the Countryman hitch they have, using the tow-hook mounts - less invasive than the mini-fini design.. I've emailed them and they don't have anything planned right now, but they would be willing to take some measurements and see what they can do - so if anybody is in the CA area, would be great if you could stop by their shop.. (the tow hook mounts are placed slightly closer together than the countryman, and this is new for the 3rd gen - previous gen only had one rear tow hook)

Yes I plan to tow a bike mount or a ATV, cooper is probably the best for that I think, coooper D too noisy and in auto gearbox the difference in consumption is not significant 7.5l compare 8l.
the cooper s has the exhaust tip in the center so I think this would be a problem (even if I saw an trailer hitch in the US in a R56 cooper S).

And has i think the 5 door mini should have probably the same rear panel than the F56, so there will be several chance that someone developpe quickly a trailer hicth.

For exemple, I live in France and I have contacted the famous manufacturer Thule and they said to me in June that they will develop a trailer hicth for the F56 cooper, but they did'nt tell me when...

Previous MINI with 1.6L gas engines pulled no probelm.
Current MINI with 2.0L gas engine will do even better.
