Hey all,
I'm sure all of us have unique stories concerning passers-by and their questions of us. Today, I had a couple come up to me after coming out of Walmart. They started with "Where'd you buy it?" and ended with having their toddler wanting to sit in the rear. They, like many others in this area (Military Area) had owned a Mini in Europe and were anxious to relive the experience. What's your favorite story?

A few weeks ago I was driving downtown and I was stopped at a light at the end of the expressway. As I was stopped there a police officer in an unmarked car pulled up next to me and started checking out the MINI. He motioned for me to roll down my window and my immediate first thought was that he was going to say something to me about my European front tag....which TECHNICALLY I am not supposed to have. The conversation went something like this:

Officer: So how do you like it?
Me: Oh, I love it!
Officer: How long ago did you get it?
Me: In the beginning of August.
Officer: Is it fast?
Me: Yeah she is pretty quick.
Officer: Well, you look just great in it!
Me: Why thank you!

It was then that I noticed that the officers in the car had some poor gentleman in the back seat that it appears they had recently arrested. They then proceeded to turn into the police station complex which is right off the highway...... So nice that they could take time out of their busy schedules to pay me a compliment!

We got stopped at U.S./Canadian Customs coming back into the U.S.

The customs officer motioned us over and started quizing us about the MINI. Where did you get it? Gas mileage? Is it quick? (the usual). Then, just as I was starting to think we were going to get a complimentary vehicle search so she could check out the inside

The first week I had mine, a guy followed me home from the grocery store (actually drove into my DRIVEWAY behind me) to get a look at my MCS and ask me about it. He had a cranky two-year old in tow who he promptly pulled from her car seat and ran over as I was getting out of my car. He looked like a kid in a candy store when I invited him to sit in it. He probably would have stayed there all day admiring it if the two-year old hadn't reminded him that he owed her a trip to the playground across the street from my house. It was pretty funny.

You know, L.MINI, it could just be b/c you're a young lady. My wife used to get stopped and talked to like that in her NEON several yrs ago!

Now THAT'S funny!

Hah! Yeah, I know that light. So how is the MINI dealing with those Baltimore roads? Every time I'm down there, I marvel that an EXPRESSWAY has such tight twisties, and that there are such amazing houses (northern Balt) with some of the WORST "paved" roads anywhere running in front of them.

But I think I've digressed...

By two cops in two different cars in my parking lot. I
thought I had been bagged for speeding as I am in
an area notorious for speed traps.....just thought it
took a while for them to catch up !!!

Yeah....Guilford and Roland Park.....prettiest houses in Baltimore....WORST roads to drive on.
The end of 83 is a scream....I am convinced that the MINI is the only car that can take those without having to hit the brakes.....
