Custom Exhaust

Has anyone desiged their own system? I am interested in a more classic sports car sound and am considering glass packs with resonated tips. A shop offered to put a long glass pack after the cat and then split the exhaust around the batery box. The cost is $175 plus the costs of the what ever tips I want. I could also put a couple of small glass packs on each side of the batery box. any sugestions? Experiences?

The muffler shops can do all sorts of things, but you don't really know what it will sound like until you've committed. Glass packs were the thing in the sixties, but we learned a LONG time ago that they are very restrictive.

Additionally, don't expect horsepower gains from such a system. Almost all muffler shops use benders that severely restrict the flow at the bends. Factory pipes are mandrel bent, maintaining flow effectiveness.

Good luck,

I understand what you are saying and I don't expect to gain any horse power. With systems costing 700-900 dollars with gains that only a dyno can appreciate has lowered my expectations when it comes to gains. I am more interested in sound and leave the hot air intake, 19% pulley and ECU ugrade worry about power. What I want is the '60 sound of a classic sports car! Remember the Ansa systems? I have found that many companies offer modern low restriction glass pack style mufflers. I also really don't want stainless steel as mild steel has a better sound qualities.
