TPMS Sensors - Question

I will be taking delivery of my new tyres (Michelin Pilot Super Sports) to fit to my alloys that I have had waiting for the car since ordering (Speedline Marmora)

One thing that has just occurred to me as I start to think about mounting the tyres is the TPMS sensors.

Sadly these are present on the F56 - I never had them on my 07 R56 nor my 08 R55. Checking online these things cost £260 for a set of 4!!!!

So my options are either get another set ordered for the Speedlines or swap over the existing ones from the OEM rims.

The only problem with this though is that I was hoping to just get the tyres mounted to the new wheels then test fit them and keep them stored up until some Coilovers are on the market - then fit all at once.

Clearly this can't happen now…. its looking more likely that I will have to swap the TPMS over and fit the new alloys before the suspension goes on.

Alternatively - is there a way to bypass the sensor?

Wouldn't you think if Volkswagen can have a tire pressure monitoring system that doesn't require TPMS sensors on the wheels some of these other brands could do that too?

I know Tire Rack sells TPMS sensors. I had them mount a set in wheels I had purchased for my old Toyota. I think they ran $150 for the four of them. You may want to check that out as a less costly alternative.

R53s used a system like that. The R56 switched to the sensors in the wheels themselves.

UK MINI's never had TPMS in the wheels until the F56 :(

I have decided to just use the ones out of my OEM wheels - I refuse to pay £250 for sensors!
