P0420 code (intermittent) on bone stock R56 justa? UPDATE
I recently got a yellow engine light which coded out to P0420 (catalytic converter) on my low mileage 2010 justa. The light stayed on for about a week and then disappeared with no corrective action on my part. Do MINIs throw spurious codes (my Miata did)? Any thoughts?

Chances are, it will come back at some point. I had something similar, got a CEL and slightly reduced power. After a few miles, CEL turned off and car returned to normal. About a month later, exact same problem. A couple of miles, CEL turns off. I tried pulling the code, nada. Finally got around to taking it to the dealer (still under warranty). It had a couple of BMW codes my reader can't read. To make a long story short, had a flaky VANOS solenoid..
0420 is catalytic conversion inefficient. On an older n12 motor, you should take it to the dealer. There is a service action for replacing the manifold and cat on n12 motors. By emissions law they have to replace it under warranty as long as nothing is modified. And I don't think you have to worry if your stock. I have the same code on my 12 justa but that's because I have no cats
