Aquamist HFS-2 for cooling only?

Or is there a better option? Can I use the washer tank with this system? Thank you for your help!

Your going to have to be a little more specific as to what you want to do or accomplish.

So please explain and I (and I am sure others) will be happy to try and help you out.

I would like to install a water/meth kit for cooling only (I will not be tuning for w/m). The AZ heat just rapes the power. Would you recommend the Aquamist HFS-2 or a different system?

Most people won't recommend tuning for it anyway. Why? Because you will rely on it and if you run out of juice, well, you'll have problems. A coworker did it on his turbo Miata and we had to stop so he could buy windshield wiper fluid, otherwise it was running like crap.

I'm starting to look into it as I started to take the car to the track and you could cook eggs and bacon on the intercooler horns after a 10 minutes run. I'm interested as well about what kit is better.

OK so now that I know a little more about what you meant by cooling only. Meaning that you do not want to tune for it, I can try and help out. I asked that question as I thought that maybe you wanted to spray on the outside of the intercooler or something odd like that.

Tuning for the W/M is not needed, but can be done to get a little extra power. There are many threads on this board and other about the use, benefits and installation of the W/M system on the R53 and R56 MINIs. The general choice of kits in the Howerton Engineering/AquaMist system, be it the HFS-2, 3 or 4)

The basic difference is the HFS-2 does not have a gauge display but has a LED lighted Switch for its communications to the users (it can be upgraded to a HFS-3), the HFS-3 comes with the gauge, and the HFS-4 has some data logging (I believe, need confirmation here and an additional sensor input). ALL of them work on Direct Injection cars.

Howerton Engineering, makes a kit specific to our cars, that is one of the reasons why it is so popular, the other reason is that its the only other kit that with inject from a Fuel Injector Duty Cycle (the AEM being the other).

The cooling effect that the system has on our cars is amazing, and in my personal experience and use is well worth the money, it comes only second to the pulley upgrade as the best upgrade(s) I have done to my car.

You want to install a system and not tune for it, that will work fine and of course you will still see major benefits from the cooling effect. With Summer upon us and here in Florida we are already seeing mid 90° weather every day, I can not think of a better upgrade.

If you have an R56 there is also the benefit of the MAINTAINING the clean intake valves(note it will not clean carbon that is already there).

I personally have tuned for the W/M, but as was previously stated, you have to be diligent about watching your W/M system, and as a side note, I also have the RMW/DimSport Flash Programer with a tune for NON-W/M usage, so I can re flash my computer/ECU to a flash that does not require W/M in about 4 minutes.

So to end this post the effects during injection are amazing, as the intake temps are considerable lower than anything else you can produce, and the system is well made and easy to install and maintain, I personally highly recommend it.
