Wood Steering Wheel?

I noticed that on the UK configurator, they offer a wood steering wheel as an option. Not sure about the airbag installation in Europe, can a wood steering wheel be put on a U.S. version? Has anyone ever seen a wood steering wheel in person?

I noticed that last year the plastic 5 piece wood finish dash was an option in the UK but not in the US, and now this year it is an option.

So maybe even if the wood steering wheel is not in the US yet it might surface for next year or the year after that.

It's not a performance for functional improvement, just cosmetics.
One would have to decide how much wood is enough. There will be shift ****, dash and steering wheel. Got to get the wood grains and finish to match, I hope they thought of that already.

I like the fully steering in wood as opposed to just a portion.

I herd that BMW made this option avaliable to the US but MiniUSA decided that it would void the warrantee on all the stering components as well as any rattles in the boot.

Ok this was a cheap shot at Miniusa.

I left a deposit for my mini a full 10 months before any mini's would hit US shores.I have the first catalogue I was given, and there was DEFINATELY a wood steering wheel option. When I finally got to spec my car out at the dealer, I mentioned this option and the salesman knew nothing of it,and I had to actually show him the listing before he would believe me.He asked the GM about it and was told "not available" .End of story....I'd still like to have one WITH air bags if necessary.I'd even forgo my stereo controls and cruise buttons.Siggggghhhhhh. I always thought the MINI would look sorta cool with a nice wooden Nardi split 3-spoke wheel. I wonder what the "factory" one looks like, hopefully it isn't like the stock wheel just wrapped in plasti-wood, that would suck.
