R50/53 Windshield Cracked!
A few weeks back I was driving to the South side of Denver (the Denver Tech Center). They are doing construction widening the freway (they call it TREX). One of the 18 wheelers kicked up a stone somewhere along the TREX construction and cracked my windshield!
Well the auto glass place said there wasn't anything they could do, the crack was to long, and the only place that has windshields for the MINI is the dealership. Well, with all this snow this past week the crack increased from 8 inches to across the windshield. I'm told this is common out here and to not even bother replacing the windshield until after winter. I've been assured that i will get more rocks before winter is over.
I bummed my baby is hurt!
Thanks, I just had to get this out.

Yeah, I have two repaired stone chips in my windshield now, so I'm waiting until spring to replace it. Do yourself a favor and get a zero deductable for glass coverage. These MINIs have problems with the windshields cracking and chipping.
I'm on my third windshield and given the above I'll be on at least my 4th by spring. The car isn't even 6 months old yet.
I'm hoping the windshield develops another stress crack between now and spring so that MINI will warrenty the windshield (again)
