exhaust mod options

looking for relatively cheap options to make a 2012 Countryman S sound a little better. it doesn't pop and doesn't start to sound good until 4k RPMs. Don't want to drop a ton of money on this right now. Anything I can do relatively inexpensively?

i love the sound of my jcw exhaust. maybe just using the 2nd cat delete pipe would throat it up a bit.

there's threads on it here...https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...rivetrain-361/

I would agree, I thought I saw a post saying that the JCW and S muffler are the same, so for about $200 you can get the intermediate JCW pipe and grab some tips for around $100 if you can install yourself you're set

Cool thanks guys. Saw those threads but thought they were for other models and wasn't sure how similar things are between models.

I just cut off my 2nd cat and resonator and replaced that section with some 304 stainless and (2) 55mm exhaust clamps. I did it all myself and took me around 30 min (including the cutting of everything). It cost me about 70.00. It sounds great, lots of popping. I love making it pop around bicyclists, it scares the crap out of them.

Just get the mid section pipe or do it at muffler shop. Free up some sound on the stock exhaust.

adding the intermediate pipe from the jcw kit will not remove the 2nd CAT. If you do take it to an exhaust shop make sure they use stainless or you will be adding disimilar metal corrosion to your exhaust. Also make sure they use a stainless filler rod or wire when they weld. 99% of the muffler shops are going to use aluminized steel and generic wire, this is why they also shoot crappy primer to cover it up to try and prevent corrosion.
