GP II ECU into a '12 JCW

Hello there,

We are currently preparing a track car for the circuit events in Turkey.

We retrofitted GP2 brake system with EBC Yellow Stuff pads. But we are having some issues with the ABS system.

Is there a way to alter the abs system, like turning it off completely.

Another question is that, can we put the GP2's ECU into JCW and use the GP mode and other electronic functions?

Any answer is appreciated.

Thanks.

What issues are you having with the brakes / ABS?

I retrofitted GP2 brakes into my JCW racecar and they work perfectly. The ABS works just fine, as does the electronic diff (ELDC).

BTW the master cylinder on the GP2 is a different size and part number to the JCW. On my JCW I am running the GP2 brakes with the standard JCW master cylinder.

Not sure about swapping the ECU. If it was an N18 JCW, then technically it probably is possible. However if you just plug a GP2 ECU in the car won't run, due to security features. You would need to swap a whole lot of electronics as well.

You can defeat ABS, but you don't really want to on a circuit car. You will lock up brakes all the time and flat spot tyres, especially with the massive GP2 brakes. Also, you will also lose electronic brake force distribution which helps keep the tail of the car stable under heavy braking. If you want to try without ABS remove one of the speed sensors from one of the front wheels, which will stop it working (and throw an ABS code)
