ALTA AccessPORT - Noticeable Surge in "for sale" in NAM

Hi everyone!

Just a quick observation… I am starting to begin to notice a good number of ALTA's AP units being sold here weekly. I am guessing because of new competitors? I just want to learn on what's hot right now and what's not…so hot anymore.

Your thoughts and thank you?

The AP was junk for me. I switched to Evolve and have been much happier.

It's because of new options. I had an accessport and sold it the first day Battle Tuning announced their support of N14 engines.

Battle/DNA tune, so far, has been much more reliable. The vehicle isn't too peaky, plus they can tune to your request. Also with a dyno map they can further fine-tune your setup. The AccessPORT is just a can tune, so very limited on your options, plus it does not work well for everyone as it's a pre built tune without looking at your vehicles data before hand.

People are upgrading to F56 cars, so there is a general surge of "for sale" aftermarket goodies from R56's that are being returned to stock spec before sale.

Most buyers don't want to see "go fast" goodies on the cars for a host of reasons, and they may hurt your ability to sell the car.
Plus, you can usually get a better price on your upgrades at an enthusiast board like this one vs. getting 0-50% of what you paid for them during used a car transaction.

I think that the new options are attractive for tunes, especially since the AP went off support last year. Plus, if you can sell your accessport, it will pay for over half of your new tune.

For me, I'm happy with the AP, and my mods budget dried up. Plus, one guy answered every ad that was out there for an AP and they all went to the top of the list.

Have fun,
Mike

The AP is unsupported and many are either selling their MINI to upgrade to a F56, or leaving MINI altogether. You'll find individuals that are happy with the AP and we don't feel you need to "settle" on a tune for the price.

You surely pay for what you get, but do the research and you'll find what you want/need eventually.

Cheers,

BT

Thanks to all… every post made a whole lot of sense and has given me a better understanding.

A coupe of comments that came into mind:

1. AP*** - I was very disappointed to learn that the support no longer exist;
2. F56 - it's only been a few weeks old and hoping that it drives the pricing of mods for the R56;
3. Battle DNA - communicated with a gentleman and I was advised that I am clear for a either stage 2 or even better stage;
4. Evolve - I need to read up more and see some reviews...

*** I had a chance to install the AP. Truthfully I am very pleased with the power gain. Exhaust sound and gas mpg's were very close to stock. It will be hard to let it go for now but would like to try Evolve and/or Battle DNA when the opportunity comes.

Many thanks to all and have a great rest of the weekend!

I love the AP, especially if you're happy with your R56 and intend to keep it for a while.
Getting the AP used now at a discount over the cost of the original full retail is a great buy, IMO.
