Long story shot my clutch needs to be replaced on my 2003 r53

I need a good shop in the nyc/long island area that familiar with this job?

anyone have any recommendations?

 

I would try Tyrol Sport in Ridgewood in Brooklyn. I've had them do a few things on my R53, including putting on my Milltek catback. If you want a true Mini specialist, then head down to Helix in Philly. They won't charge anything close to $4k. Probably less than half including the new OEM clutch.

 

Local knowledge at it's best and this website link will provide even more info on just about everything MINI including an extensive independent shop directory. I even keep it handy on cross country road trips just in case.

Another vote for Tyrol Sport. They're trustworthy guys and I've been taking my '05 MCSa there for years for maintenance/mods. I'll be back there in a few weeks also getting a Milltek exhaust put on. They're not cheap, but they are reasonable and they stand by their work in a big way.

 

I live in NYC and I take the trip to Philly (HELIX). They have done my clutch and many other upgrades and provide great customer service! Check out their website Helix13.com labor for the clutch job is $850. If you can swing it install Lsd while the tranny is out its $1050 and makes a world of difference!

 

Tyrol sport is excellent but they are a bit pricey, they quoted the clutch fix a bit less than the dealer, Helix was fair. I decided to do it myself. Helix is my 1st choice because I trust them and they are honest but I had to get the car there some how but for my next clutch I'll take it to him in second

 

There's a mom and pops place in the bronx. On 149th street and concord ave. I've know the family since i was a kid. The head mechanic Eric works on my mini r53 as well as others in the area.

If you're dead set on staying within NYC, then definitely try Tyrol. Nice, clean shop and they're very nice.

If you don't mind traveling, go to Helix.
