Can you hear your AC compressor inside the car?

I just picked up my R55 and two weekends ago I used the AC for the first extended period. I noticed that I could hear the compressor inside the car, which I didn't think was normal. But since this is my first MINI, I have no idea what normal is.

So, do you hear the compressor working in the cabin while your driving with the windows up and the radio down?

I had Mini apply this to my car SI M64 01 10

The aircon was making a vibrating sort of noise. It seems that the bottom intake pipe to the compressor vibrates excessively in some of the minis.

They replaced the entire pipe though with a re-designed one instead of just the weight, this invloved purging the gas and ended up costing me around AUD $800 from being done at the dealership.

Thanks

I'll see what they say when I take it in for some other warranty repairs.

Not only can I hear the AC running, I can feel the vibration's even with weights installed on intake tubes by the stealership.

MiniMeep, what year was your car? Mine's a 2008 and I do have the noise/vibration from the compressor. It appears that SI was supposed to apply to vehicles '09 and up.

From what the dealership told me is it's a new part now that includes the dampening instead of just a weight being added on.

Anyone know where I can find the weight for sale? Mine only vibrates/makes noise just barely.

Just looked at my invoice and this is the part they installed 64509231714, now I'm confused as I thought they said they changed the entire line

On my 07 I haven't heard the compressor. I do know the compressor is on, because the cooling fan always starts with the AC.

Probably the only thing they got right in the early models, but they just couldn't keep doing it right.
