Bolton Premiere Cold Air Intake

Hey guys, I just bought a Bolton Premiere Cold Air Intake for my 2005 S (with JCW Mods) and I wanted to know what people think of it. The main reason I bought it was that it was cheap, and my original filter needed replacement. Are they easy to install? How good is this product?

a 2005 SHOULD have a factory JCW airbox that is actually very good....
the kit I looked up...on JCwhitney...looked OK...cheap..
http://www.jcwhitney.com/direct-fit-...1622y2005g20j1
since no shroud or box...it is a HAI, a HOT AIR INTAKE.......
a CAI has some shielding to ensure it does not suck in hot engine air...but that having been said, the HP differences are minor.
Frankly, have never heard of this brand....but you can make a diy version with a universal filter in about 15 minutes with hardware store parts....
49-state legal - no CA shipments
Type: Cold Air Intake
Aluminum Tube Material
Anodized Tube Color/Finish
Air Filter Material: Cotton gauze
Air Filter Type: Oiled
Notes: 1-piece intake tube with sensor hole; Red air filter, 3 clamps, and bracket; Black coupler and black breather hose
Warranty: 1-year, unlimited-mileage Bolton Premiere warranty
Good luck....should get you a bit more sound..a CAI should be cheap....filter looks kinda small....but picture is likely a universal....

Yes, it should have a JCW air box, but it didn't. Mine has everything a JCW should have, other than the air box. Very strange. I know it has performance mods, or JCW Kits,
Because it's noticeably quicker than the others I test drove.

That being said, is there anywhere I could get a shroud or box to make this a CAI?

Oh, I just realized that these come in different kits. The one I bought has a small hose that connects the filter to the OEM cold air box (at the back). So this will be a cold air, not hot air.

a closed CAI is like this....

or this...

But +200 more.....

the jcw210 kit cars (those sold 2005+) had this airbox, and bigger JCW380 injectors (blue stripe as opposed to tan)
the intake you are looking at is similar to a alta...

but folks have been using sheetmetal...like gutter and roofing stock..it does rust..so paint it...to make similar knock of heatshields....
then adding a cover...

Links are from WAYMOTORWORKS.com and alta....

it will be a strictly DIY thing since you are providing your own intake...
The gains are pretty MINOR from a CAI..it is MOSTLY about sound......and looks.best give you maybe a 2 HP gain at best(maybe), well within the error range of a dyno....

Cool, thanks! I'm just gonna leave it a HAI. If it's not a big difference, I don't really care.
