Exhaust help, Akrapovic.

I am having such a hard time deciding what exhaust setup to get on my 2013 JCW hardtop. I would really like the Akrapovic but I have read a few time that it is quite tame.

I found this video on youtube and the sound it excellent and just what I am looking for. The tag says Akrapovic Exhaust, Evolve decat, and middle silencer delete.

I do not know much about exhaust's and hoping someone could explain what the Evolve decat is and middle silencer delete is ??

I am really liking the sound from this video and would like to have the same setup.

Thanks in advance.

Akrapovic is arguably one of the best exhausts available for the MINI. It is pricey for sure. The system by itself is tame when compared to several others. But, like the video shows, if you install a catless down pipe you will get a lot more noise. You may not even have to remove the resonator on the Akra exhaust to achieve the same level of noise. And if you're going to spend the money for an Akra exhaust set up why would you want to hack that up? For the most part you will acheive the same level of sound with a catless DP no matter which brand you chose.

I have NM exhaust with WMW catless DP and I really like the sound. It actually took some getting used to at first because of the volume but I got used to it and drive appropriately through the neighborhood to keep the noise down. You will get drone with a catless DP though. Keep that in mind if you do a lot of highway driving. But the Akra set up should help keep that to a minimum.

p.s. The Akra exhaust with carbon fibre tips would look really good on your JCW. I think you have the ideal color combo for this exhaust.

^ Hey, thanks for that. I appreciate it.

Are some catless down pipes better than others? Which would be the best, quality etc?

What exactly does this mean? So, now we are buying exhausts based on color combinations?

Silver car with chrome / stainless steel tips gets lost in all the silver IMO. Black carbon Fibre tips with a Silver/Black car would look a lot better. again MO only
