Wheel spacers

Looking to make my wheels sit a little more flush. My wheels are 16x7 et 42 with 195/55/16 tires. My car is an 05 R53 with H&R sport springs. Just wondering what size of a spacer I could accommodate without any rubbing issues? I've noticed that the smaller spacers (ex 5mm) do not come with longer lugs, is this because you can get away with using the stock lugs at that thickness?? I was looking at this package on ebay. I know theyre probably not H&R spacer quality but I'm just looking for the most cost effective way to make things sit a little nicer. If I do decide to cheap out and just get 5mm spacers would they really do much aesthetically or is it just a a waste of money?

My R56 is slightly lowered (TSW springs) and have 16”x6.5” 48mm offset wheels and 195/55 R16 tires. I have 12mm spacers front and 15mm spacers rear with no rubbing.

Compared to OEM 16" wheels you are already 12.4mm out wider, how much more are you looking for?

If only 3mm then you can use a narrow spacer and the stock wheel bolts but with 5mm spacers you will need longer wheel bolts or change to wheel studs and lug nuts. Check with Way Motor Works or Outmotoring for wheel products.

Your wheels already stick out as much or more than the owner that replied to you in the second post.

Ideally I'd just like to make things flush with the fender. The rear needs them a little more so than the front.

Here's a pic I took today. You can see that the front is sunk in a bit and especially the rear with the additional negative camber. Will a 3 or 5mm spacer even make a noticeable visual difference?

Its interesting that you say a 5mm spacer needs longer bolts. None of the 5mm kits I've came across include larger bolts, its just the bigger sizes that do.

5mm kits don't have longer bolts because you need to factor in the need and cost for those on your own. They may assume you have the right studs or bolts already or are making a separate purchase.

Shows lip to fit onto wheel hub.

If you want it to look more flush you can likely pick the 5mm spacer. They come in two forms, one is plain and the other has a small lip to catch inside of the wheel hub.

Make sure that if you buy longer wheel bolts they fit the early model year MINIs like your, the diameter changed from 12mm to 14mm.

I didn't even know they made 8mm spacers. What size bolt did you have to get? Stock is 28mm I think, so you have the 35mm version?

Just about ready to order a set of 8mm spacers and 35mm wheel bolts. Before I do, can anyone confirm that I will not run into any rubbing issues with my wheel and tire combo? I know that a lot of you guys on here are running wider wheels and lower offsets than myself. I'd appreciate it if you could chime in on how things worked out.
