Where do you buy parts online?

I need to buy an air filter and brake pads for a 2012 Cooper S.
Lots of parts online but which are the better sites to buy from?

WayMotorWork

ECU Tuning

Those are the two I've bought from. ECU has everything including small OEM parts (like bolts) that are tough to find at dealers and they have great customer service.

Way has fantastic customer service and I try to support him because he's a small business. For the advice he's given me about maintenance and such, he deserves more than just a high recommendation from me.

Agree with the above (although I think it is ECS, not ECU). Have also bought from MiniPartsMass, Classic, and RockAuto.

I have experience with Way (who does ECU tuning, BTW) and ECS Tuning. Both are very good. Bavarian AutoSport is also good to deal with.

I have bought parts from

Sewell MINI = Good results

Way Motorworks = Good results

MINI of South Atlanta = Mixed results and will more than likely never use again. They have a habit of deleting small items i.e. hardware from an order just so they can ship it. They also don’t answer email inquires about VIN specific items. I spent over $1000 here in just six months BTW.

Summit Racing = Good results bought my Super damper from them.

AutoHausAZ = Good results for some items, but still mostly a German car site i.e. VW. I wish they would ramp up the MINI parts.

ECS = OK results, but the shipping is always excessive. I understand packing materials cost money, but the last item years ago was a true WTF on the shipping.

RockAuto = Good results for brand name parts like Gates and Moog.

ProMINI = Nothing but F-bombs. I was just reminded as to why I only bought two items from them back when I had a BMW over the span of 8 years.

Bavauto = Good results for some stuff, but bend over on the OEM stuff.

ECS. Sorry, I think my phone autocorrected it. And yes, shipping was high, but whatever.

Pelican has very good pricing on brakes and the shipping is free most of the time, even on heavy items like brakes.

ECS: always has parts I am looking for. Pricing is good. I agree with comment shipping is expensive even for a little plastic part that came in an oversized box.

Bavarian Auto: Web site is awful to navigate need rework. Availability is good. Pricing good. I like their glossy mailers.

Mini Genuine Parts UK: Usually has parts for cheaper than US (even with pound conversion and custom fees) and has hard to find parts available only in Europe.

BramanAuto Parts: good prices on accessories and fast shipping.

Outmotoring: Decent selection, quick shipping, pricing at MSRP but they have a monthly 5% discount code.

Amazon: typically priced at MSRP but often free shipping over $35

Way & Detroit Tuned both have done well by me. I have cultivated a relationship with my local Mini dealership and get my filters locally from them.

+1. Just got a very nice Hazet brake bleeder wrench from there. Been very happy with the tools I've gotten from him over the last couple of years.

Way Motor Works - great customer service and support for questions on NAM, competitive pricing.

The Mini Parts Store - great prices on OEM parts

Outmotoring - competitive pricing, 5% NAM discount, plus free shipping over $195

ECS Tuning - just ordered on Friday and waiting for delivery. Great combination of OEM and aftermarket parts, and great support for questions on NAM

well, as long as everyone else is posting about their experiences:

WMW - good experience, good communication
ECS - good experience, very good communication
MINI of South ATL - decent experience, so-so communication
Turner Motorsport - good experience, good communication

I think those are all the guys I've purchased something from so far.

For OEM parts, my experience has been that Sewellparts.com, once registered, has the best pricing around. I live close and pick up so I don't pay shipping but I do pay 8.25% sales tax. Still very competitive. I also like Way, ECS and Outmotoring for stuff. I have also ordered stuff and been satisfied with several other organizations, but one I have tried twice and ended up canceling my order twice, so I probably won't go back there Anymore.

I have bought parts from ....

Way Motorworks = Good results, good advise...usually my first place too look.

RockAuto = Good results for brand name parts like Gates and Moog, and aftermarket OEM equivalent parts..Radiators, cooling fans, alternators, sometimes OEM branded....I call this a "commodity parts seller"...ALWAYS look for the 5% discount coupon

Bavauto = Good results for some stuff..semi local to me...limited selection

Amazon= Be careful...know EXACTLY the item number...their will it fit feature is USELESS for MINI's

Helix= Can be a good deal if they have what you want...prices are sometimes great, sometimes OK...pays too look.

Turner Motorsports= Limited MINI parts...more focused on racing..local to me

Outmotoring= Again..a great mini boutique seller...good stuff if they have what you want.

Minicarparts.net= bought a few parts here...no games with discount codes, decent shipping

MiniMania= Always got mad later when I found items sold for 30% less...nor just a bit less...BUT LOTS LESS.

Also check out:

Eurotek Tuning http://www.etektuning.com/ - Good prices on items and usually shipping is free on most items. Leo is a great guy and is extremely knowledgeable. Just launched a new website and is running some good deals. Specializes in Audi/VW and BMW/MINI. Has been expanding his MINI market over the last year.

I can vouch for ECS, Amazon, Rockauto and Summit to name a few. It really depends on what you are looking for. To respond to the OP, I recently installed a lifetime K&N air filter, Hawk pads, and EBC rotors. I try to get parts at autozone, but lucky if they have even an oil filter.
