Tire size question

I'm getting ready to replace my run flats and have what may be a stupid question. Tire size. I have the stock 195-55-r16 stock size currently. I was looking at moving to maybe a different size tire on the stock rim as one of the tire dealer in my area said he could offer a better price since not a lot of shops around here carry my current size. What are the pro/cons of going bigger size. What size would be the most logical to move to?

Thanks!

No cons, bigger foot print, more traction, looks better. 205/50/16 fits great,
speedo will be off by ~ 1mph ( going slower than reads ) . You can go to 55 series but the acceleration will be slower but speedo will be more accurate.

Your mpg will probably be negatively impacted, especially if you go with a more aggressive compound.

I've seen people posting up almost all combinations of 205 or 215 with either 50 or 55 for the height.

Not sure how your winters are there, but I put winter tires on my 16" wheels and keep them on there. I run 17" wheels and tires in the summer. Don't know if thats an option for you or not, but I always prefer to have a dedicated set of wheels and tires for winter.

+1

I got my 16s for the winter and 17s for spring/summer/fall.

Can't go to crazy in budget...bought the car and house in the same month. I like peppy, but his is my daily driver and I save my truck for the honey do list. I'm working upto having 2 sets of rims, but I'm wanting a compromise between price and not hydroplaining on a gob of spit. Thanks for all the replies.

most people buy a cooper for it handling, if you put budget no names on it it may lose that. And it's a temp B tire, A traction. I run only AA traction and A temp. For the same price you can get BFG comp 2 , a known and trusted tire/brand.

Get Pirelli P4, had those on my mustang and loved them. For Mini I think you can get 195/55r15.

Common other sizes are 205/50-16 and 205/55-16. The biggest plus is the availability of more choices. /55 has an even bigger selection than /50.

The extra width is theoretically a handling advantage, but probably uses more gas.

The /50 look reasonable, I don't like the look of /55 they look too big and truck like. The /55 corrects the speedo quite handily.
