19% pulley with Venom nitrous...

Has anyone used a 19% with nitrous? I'm about to take the plunge for nitrous. I believe larger injectors are in order too. Any comments?

I'm hoping I don't blow this baby up!

Hi bisch....

You need the 400cc injectors, or you will burn a hole thru the exhaust valves,
vaporize the sparkplugs, crash the ring landings or worse.

Yes this happened to a customer of mine who decided that he did not need
the larger injectors, and if you are going racing use 100 octane gas.

We do have larger injectors in stock as of today

what brand injectors...and are they a perfect fit?

I say this because the 440 cc RC injectors have a slightly larger body, requiring relieving the manifold pockets, and are slightly taller, requiring raising the intercooler 1/4" or so. otherwise, the RC worked perfectly for me, using the A'pexi piggy to control less than WOT conditions.

Peter, shouldn't the Venom computer have prevented this? It is supposed to shut down when too lean, right?

Hi Guys....

The injectors we use are the stock units that we rebuild to flow at a higher
rate (400cc) giving you perfect idle and driving characteristics.

As for my example, let me first say that he road raced the car which in it self adds a lot of strain on the stock components.

The computer module does keep an optimum A/F ratio at all times within reason.
But if you would race with 91 octane gas, stock fuel injectors, a large nitrous valve and and a heavy foot, the risk of high cylinder temps are always looming in the horizon.

Your best bet would be to use large fuel injectors, a conservative approach to
squeezing the "juice" ie. let the car cool down between each run
and if you go to the track use either octane enhacer or 100 octane gas.

As of today I had zero problems with my car and I do sqeeze some serious
power...

How much do you charge for the reworked injectors?

I honestly can't say that you will have more HP, but at the upper end of the
powerband in particular with power adders like pullies or nitrous a safety zone
will be added making sure no lean A/F situation will arise at any time....

Mo Power = M7 nitrous

price: $400+ core charge

So are you saying the Larger injectors are needed because of the Pulley or because of the nitrous?

Do you need larger injectors with a 19% pulley?

Also M7,

I you last post you mention $400+ core is that for the injectors?

The Fuel injectors are needed when nitrous is used in conjuction with the 19% pulley.

Larger injectors are not needed as a norm with 19% pulley, but if you roadrace
the car and have a custom chip, the larger injectors could give you a comfortable A/F ratio preventing a lean out.

Price is $100 each for the injectors and if you return the cores (original inj)
we will credit back the core charge ($100 each).

RC injectors are no where near that price. You can pick up some RC440 for under 400 if you shop around.

I use to race turbo hondas with failry big turbos and would run 1000cc RCs and they cost me around 800 or so. Give or take its been a wile.

A neat trick alot of boosted honda guys did was get some DSM 450 out of an eclipse turbo and get the resistor pack and un them. I dont know if it will work with the mini or not. Im very new to the mini at this stage and cant say if it will work but people were getting the DSM injectors for 50 bucks or so. I would run RC that is all i have ever ran in my cars and no problems at all

Sure you can pick up some RC injectors cheaper...........But

They don't fit properly as they are to tall, approx 10-15mm giving you
no room for the fuel rail/ intercooler interface....sorry.

The other consideration is injector spray pattern, the stock injector that we use
as the base for our custom unit has a perfect spray pattern mimicing the factory pattern.

I see, maybe RC can make them custom for the Cooper S if the proper specs are given?

Like i said i havent really messed with my S except the pulley and intake so my lack of knowlage about the s is not there yet

i have rc 440's in my car; and yes, they don't fit. You not only have to lift the fuel rail 1/4", but you also have to relieve the pocket in the manifold about .05 on the radius (or turn down the od of the injector body). they did allow me to extract another 10-15hp though, while maintaining a near perfect A/F curve in the upper rpm range (12.5:1). mine are throttled back with a piggy so the otherwise rich running at off WOT (and at WOT for that matter) can be controlled.

Peter: how do you deal with the overall greater flow throughout the range?
