Ditch new runflat or not
Ditch new runflat or not
Have 4k on the run flats. And wanted to know if it is going to be much better etc ditching them and running regular tires. Going to 215/45/17 if so. Up all season.
Don't want to do anything stupid.

Absolutely. One of the best things you can do on a MINI. Ditch 'em and go up a size. Better ride. Better handling (in most cases). Better price. Almost a no lose situation. Sucks if you get a flat, but thats what insurance is for. Or you can always purchase a spare to keep around.
Better ride, greater choices of higher-end tires, all at the lower price point. Win, Win, Win.
Friends don't let friends suffer with run-flats!
Get an emergency goo kit and/or Dynaplug if you want a piece of mind - your quickly and easily repaired regular tire will last you longer than 50 miles it will take RFT to disintegrate.
A full size spare would be ideal, but there is no room for it in a MINI, and a donut with its 50-mile range is not any more useful than a deflated RFT.
Both are useless in the middle of a serious road trip. The above combo will get you to your destination with greater probability than any RFT.

If you live in civilization, ditch the RF's.
I don't live near any cities. I think my RF's really saved my butt when I was traveling over the mountains in Colorado and was able to keep going on the rim (tire) after hitting a deep pothole or a rock (it was dark - I couldn't stop until I got out of the rockslide area). That said, I have another set of rims with the upsize tires and a patch/pump kit.
The situation isn't always black and white.

Not necessarily.
You haven't said exactly why you are considering this. Would you be unhappy waiting until you wore them out before switching?

They ride like crap. Hard. U hit a bump and it throws u over. I have never had run flats. I have had a m3 and a amg. Used to going and not feeling like that. I just got the mini 2 weeks ago so wanted to know about the ride difference in non run flat. Vs how much is just the car.

It will show all local installers who work with tirerack, their prices, and reviews.
Even if you don't buy from TireRack and ship to one of the above, the installers on this list will attempt to match or come close to TR's prices.

Because they are idiots lol......actually it's because liability sometimes they may ask you to sing a waiver if they do the job, run flats are OEM equipment my guess is that they had some lawsuits in the past and adopted current policy.

Final question (probably!) and then I'll leave you all alone.
I've got 205/45-17 RFTs on there - I've read that R53s can go up a size without any rubbing issues, is that true? Would you recommend getting 215/45-17s instead?
