I'm wondering if RF's help or hinder your gas mileage? I'm going to need to replace my RF's in the next few thousand miles, and don't really want the run flats. To bumpy of a ride and hum like crazy!

It ultimately depends on the type of tire you replace them with, but for most cases it should help with gas mileage due to the dropped unsprung weight.

I would do it sooner, but have to finish paying for my other car's tires first...I'm thinking of all season tires. RF's are the WORST when snowy or icy and couldn't swing for winter tires this year.

There are some low rolling resistance tires that are better for gas mileage but I don't know how much better and not sure what's the sacrifice I had then on an older car but they came with the car OEM so it's hard to tell

Actually, I'll take a smoother rider, quieter ride and better handling any day over a couple miles per gallon. I was just wondering. Thanks my MINI buddies!

Why were these tires even put on MINI's or anything. I see no advantages.

When not supplying a spare tire it is required to equip a vehicle with runflats. I believe...

I went from 17" OEM Continental runflats in 205 to Pilot Super Sports in 215, whoa what a difference!
Of course, the PSS will be slicks in less than 10k miles but the performance is amazing compared to the runflats.

Actually now a days some manufacturers are not even fitting a spare tires anymore instead they will provide a mobile kit. And regular non run flat tires, they do have the space for a spare in case the owner wants to fit a spare in the future. A few weeks ago when I was having my wheel repaired thanks to the brutal winter there was a lady that found out the hard way that her car didn't have a spare, she thought that someone in her parking garage stole her spare tire lol, it was a Hyundai Elantra I think I told her that chances are that she never had one... I can't believe that a car salesman never mentioned this to her.......actually it doesn't surprise me lol
