British or German??
British or German??
I was going to order one of those euro license plates for the R53 and saw that you can get a national flag or symbol included on the plate. Since our cars are made in Germany I thought maybe a German flag emblem or the "D" for Deustchland OR maybe I should get the ole Union Jack or a "GB" for Great Britain. Dilemma dilemma.
So here is my question to you all. What is the official nationality our cars? Do we go with the German connection for the actual manufacture of the vehicle and her BMW parts? OR do we go with the long standing British connection based on the heritage of BMC/Morris/Austin??

I too am getting a euro licence plate for my R56. I'm going with the union jack for a couple reasons.
First off its where my family hales from. We have a lot of family in the London area
Secondly it seems that BMW has kept with the British heritage with the union jack accessories
Although, the Deustchland one would be cool as that's where they are manufactured.

but to complicate it...
Your motor is made in Brazil....
The MINI is truly a "world car"...gen2 cars even more so...with some built in Austria....
Three UK plants have a part to play in MINI production. Facilities at Hams Hall, Oxford and Swindon jointly produce MINI with increased capacity, flexibility and efficiency. The Hams Hall plant produces petrol engines, Plant Oxford remains responsible for the body shell production, paint and assembly and Plant Swindon produces pressings and sub-assemblies.

All R56/55/58 and 59's are assembled at Plant Oxford in Oxford England. R60's and R61's are built in Austria.
I'd go with the GB one as MINI is historically a British car despite being owned by BMW.
Just my 0.02 cents!

Pretty much all cars are made from parts gathered from around the world. Mine was made (assembled) in Oxford so I consider my car British.

My co-workers and I were discussing Mini Coopers earlier as I am saving up for one. They accidently said Italian and I corrected and said British, then realized it was BMW which is German. So, British or German? Id say born German but with British blood. Eh, oil rather?
