looking for new engine

Hey guys,

I am looking for a new engine for my 2007 mini s. I recently went through the timing chain tensioner breaking and now I am just trying to find a new engine to drop in it instead of trying to rebuild it... I want to buy a long block so if anyone has any information on something around 4thousand or less and with a warranty please let me know thank you

Since your only in AL, you can bring your core and pick it up saving a ton on shipping

It's got 86 thousand.... I only had it 36 days and it died. I already called mini usa and they ran the Vin number and it didn't have any recalls so they won't cover anything....

see if the state has a lemon law....here in NY they have that.

But i would definitely contact miniusa consumer affairs and see what they can do.

I already did contact them... and there is no lemon law in Ga.. I think I'm just going to have to fix it on my own. I wish ga had a lemon law or mini would cover the repairs since they have acknowledged the faulty timing chain tensioner...But no.

wow that sucks man...

FYI i think it would be cheaper + more beneficial for you to just rebuild the engine you have in there with performance rods/pistons/valves.

This is of course assuming that you have no damage in your combustion chambers..

Well I don't have the time to work on my car and I don't have the required knowledge either. I am taking it to a mechanic who was recommended to me he said its going to be a month before he can get to it "he is a one man shop." I am new to mini coopers and also to really understanding and learning engines. I don't know what its like inside my engine other than I pulled the valve cover off and found the metal and plastic parts of my timing chain tensioner all over. There was chunks lodged between the cams and timing chain and I am sure metal is all in my oil. I was alerted to this issue when I pulled my spark plugs out and one was broken on the end where the metal shoe is bent to create the arc... So I am assuming the worst, but I guess I should ask my mechanic to really take a look at the damage before I order a whole new long block engine. I am tight on funds have about 3 grand any more I will be getting a loan which of course I am planning on. Sorry for the super long message. Any advice is appreciated. Thx guys!
