JCW.....yes, no, maybe?
JCW.....yes, no, maybe?
Well it's been 4 months and after the SA, MA, MINI customer service, and reading these forums and several others......all I have is a headache and a load of downloaded pictures with no clear cut answer!
Now I know about the VIN check and I have the window stickers and all that, but being an old man and having nightmares about getting Da Shaft, I need you help.
After ordering and taking delivery of my wife's R56 S, and getting hooked on the way it handled and cornered, even tho' I only got to drive it 3 times in 6 months, I had to get one for myself.
After seeing the look of the JCW's and wanting the extra ponies, I ordered mine exactly 12 months after hers.
A shiny new '14 R55 fJCW.
And here is where it gets weird........pictures of my fJCW!
I was under the impression that the fJCW came with the aero stuff.
Why would you have to pay even more extra for the already 7,000.00 more we pay up front...basis the MINI USA configuration tool.
I kept asking the SA, MA, it's just like that one there in the show room? And they kept saying yes.
Well I need professional help now so I can sleep and or just pony up MORE cash to get what I thought I was getting!
Looking at the attached pictures.....is this a fJCW or a dealer upgrade?
Shouldn't the fJCW have the FULL aero kit pieces?
Thanks.

Sorry guys, I tried to load three pictures.
I gave all three in my gallery to be seen.
I'm a little forum upload illiterate.
Additionally, when using the config to order the car, when adding the aero kit it would say front/rear bumpers etc.
I thought we already got these?
Just frustrated a bit and can't get a solid answer.
Thanks again and sorry about pictures and double posts.

If you're configuring the car on MINIUSA you have to add the JCW aero kit. The JCW aero kit is not standard....even if you have a JCW you're building online. I think it's lame that you pay all the extra money for the JCW and then you have to spend $2000 extra to get the aero kit for it. I personally think it should be standard, but it isn't.
Well I thought this too at one time.
Then I started seeing pictures here about JCW's and guys going back and forth about the grill and then the sideskirts.
Then there is this link they were talking about.
http://www.motoringfile.com/2012/02/...t-as-standard/
So after seeing the confusing pictures and the even more confusing articles, I just about gave up.
Thanks for your reply.

I looked at the pics in your gallery. You have the JCW aero kit for the Clubman which is different from the hardtop.
You may have the wrong side skirts though.
I can't believe that people that work at a MINI dealer could not tell you this.

Thank you sir onefish.
This is what I thought and then with each picture guys post of their fJCW it's yes and then no with the sideskirts.
I believe I should have the sideskirts.
The parts guy at the dealer even went so far as to say, " I don't think they make them to fit the Clubman ".
I also asks if I could order just the skirts at one point and they said no to that also.
What I'm looking for is IF they should be there, is to be able to find someone at MINI who can agree.
I was hoping that guys here who ordered and/or bought a fJCW Clubman would have pictures and help me in my quest to get to the bottom of this.
I've only had it 4 months, but it's driving me crazy.....lol

You should not be paying for anything. A mistake was made at the factory or the dealer swapped out and put the standard side skirts on. Either way the dealer needs to fix this for you.
The parts guy at your dealership is not very good. Even though factory JCW Clubman is rare he should be able to figure this stuff out in the parts program they use.
Not too hard to figure out:

Also I know for a fact that you have the wrong side skits. I had a Clubman S for 3 weeks as a loaner in November. It had the JCW aero kit and wheels as an option from the factory. So I know what the side skirts in the JCW aero kit look like.
I would call the service manager in the morning.

yes, this does not sound right to me at all. ordering a factory JCW should include the aero by default, unless this is a Clubman-only thing?
We ordered a CM JCW and did not have to select the aero package.
And I just bought a R56 JCW and there is nothing on the sticker regarding the aero package and it certainly has it.......
I will say this though-kind of sort of related. I think it's odd that with the CM JCW, the sport suspension comes on the car and you can't remove it from the online order system. With Clubman and MCS JCW's, you have to select sport suspension and pay $500 for it...makes no sense to me...JCW's not coming with sport suspension by default....no clue..

The aero kit for the JCW was standard from '09-'11 or '12 I believe. One of my buddies has a FJCW and his is a late '12 and he doesn't have the aero kit on his MINI. As for the money I believe to get the aero kit it's $1,600 or so.
Here's a better link (I think) with part numbers (and showing the vents in skirts):

Yeah we can all agree the aero kit is available and the extra costs associated wit it. But like other threads about the standard features, it's always hard to either get guts who have '12, '13, or '14 fJCW's to reply and or show a picture.
The forums have always had two to three opinions and/or beliefs about what is or is not correct, not just for this question, but for everything associated with anything MINI.
I know fully well that the answers here will not get me the aero side skirts.
Nut having a better foothold on what is happening out in the field so to speak would be great.
On a brighter note, I went to the Chicago Auto Show yesterday and met the Midwest reps assistant. I'm going to get the VIN and my personal experience issues to them and see what they think and/or can do.
At least this us a move UP the food chain to talk/ask about what is and is not a fJCW.
Still would like to see a few pictures and posts about YOUR fJCW and the fact that YOU too didn't order the aero kit, but that it was on the fJCW's when delivered.
Thanks Huge Guys.

I ordered my 2013 JCW R56 last summer. It came with the "aero kit" installed from the factory. I did not pay extra for it (over and above the regular up charge for the JCW configuration, itself). (The pics also show a number of mods I've done since last summer - so you don't get confused.)
In 2011 the aero kit was a option on justa, S and fjcw. I remember because it seem nuts to pay extra to get a fjcw with n14 when the S came with the n18 and was faster with a tuning kit.

The aero kit on a fjcw clubman is a $2182 option...you would think it would be standard but you are missing the side skirts according to the website description of the kit. (If you paid for the aero kit)

That's weird, cause one of my buddies has the aero kit on his FJCW on his '11? Damn this whole thing is weird for those guys. And no he didn't pay extra. I'm gonna call the dealership and ask one of my buddies who's a SA there. This needs to get cleared up for sure.
You know it would not be the first time a manufacturer made a mid year package change.
Yeah that is the weird part that everyone posts about.
Some guys ordered a fJCW, and never clicked the aero kit 'cause it was obvious that the JCW was an upgrade WITH the aero/ground effects.
The idea about MINI making a mid year PKG change really doesn't fall true either.
Yes I know they have made PKG changes, BUT.....the JCW isn't a PKG!

JCW
It's a MODEL of MINI.
Kinda like a Mustang...pony....gt.....shelby......saleen
Not sure if guys would be hurt if say they didn't get the 4 headlights on the front and the dual exhaust?
Point is MINI released a announcement that stated the JCW would be WITH the aero kit as STANDARD during the model year '11 forward.
I remember asking my SA/MA as I pointed to a fJCW sitting in the showroom at the time....."just like that one, with all the same trim?" And him saying yes!
Oh well, I'll have to wait now for an official reply from MINI's Midwest Rep as I sent out the e-nail this morning......

Bubbajcw,
Before my earlier post I went to the mini website and built a fjcw clubman and was able to add an aero kit. Back in 2011 I remember doing the same on the R56 fjcw and the dealer agreed with my printouts probably in error if in fact the aero kit was standard on the 2011 r56 all year.
