Installing a Grip Royal Wheel. question about the airbag light

So i'm just wondering that with the airbag light on, does this disable all airbags? or is it just a warning light saying hey the steering wheel airbag is missing.

You should really think about if you want to get rid of your airbag. Accidents happen on the road and an airbag can really help lessen your injuries if you are in one. Also, your insurance may not pay for your medical needs if they find that you've removed a critical safety device from your car.

Don't mean to sound like a ****, but that Grip wheel looks like it belongs in a car from 40 years ago. It doesn't fit the decor of a modern car at all. It looks like something you can buy off the shelf from autozone.

If this is a track car then you're probably running a cage anyway, so just ignore everything I just said.

IS there any reason you want to swap out the wheel other than aesthetics?

I believe if one of the airbag fails the diagnostic check when the car starts up that the entire airbag system is disabled. But I don't know that for sure.

The guy above is right though... if you get into an accident and the insurance company finds out you disabled an airbag you could be in big trouble.

You're going to need a hub with an airbag resistor. I recently ordered a Works Bell short hub, it'll be here in a couple weeks since it's special order from Japan. It comes with an "SRS fix" which is basically a resistor so the airbag light doesn't turn on and the rest of the airbags work like normal.

I'm going to be using a MOMO mod 78 wheel with it, can't wait

If he gets into an accident the missing airbag will be the first thing on the accident reported, that accident reported will hurt your chances of the insurance covering your medical expenses!

We're not trying to be dicks, just that your well-being is more important than a steering wheel. I'm going to upgrade my steering wheel to the JCW with red stitching one of these days.

Unless there is some specific data/case of insurance companies not paying for medical bills in this regard I would say this is all just conjecture.
