Rail Accessories

So I just received my vertical smart phone holder from ECS Tuning. It's the factory MINI piece that attaches to the center rail and holds a phone (as opposed to the one that lies flat on the rail. Unfortunately, nowhere is it mentioned that the rail is apparently narrower between the shifter and the hand brake lever, which is where I wanted to mount it. That means that the rail adapters don't fit there. Going to have to figure out another solution. Bummer!

There's a thread on here somewhere where someone pried out the rail stops right behind the gear shift, so you could try that.

Edit: here's the thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...t-removal.html

That's odd. I have an rail adapter sitting right there that the MINI phone carrier was mounted on. I removed the phone carrier & mounted a coin tray on it.

Perfect! That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! I removed the plastic inserts. Unfortunately, I need to use the USB/Audio connections for my iPhone, so I couldn't put the mount in front of the handbrake where yours is. I put it just behind the brake. My car is an auto, so it's not an issue for me.
