HI guys, I was wondering if anyof you had this problem.. the handrail on my drivers side, the paint scratches off too easily! It looks horrible; I don't even know how I did it! What do you guys do to fix this?

 

That's a common complaint among MINI owners, especially with silver interior. Some people have them repainted and even add a clear coat for longer durability. Some wrap leather or cloth around it, and some just ignore it.

Perhaps try to see if your dealer will replace it under warranty.

Do you have long and hard fingernails? If so that could be a problem with the silver finish.
The silver is pretty thinly coated on your downtubes and door pulls and these areas show the most wear.
If it seems excessive you can complain to your dealer and try to have them replaced.
I think the anthracite finish is the most durable. Adding a clear coat will help.

Many of us have painted the downtubes or door pulls body color, anthracite or silver with clear coat and gotten good results which are durable.

The door pulls/handles facing the interior are not easy to remove. See if your dealer and replace them- tell them you are very careful.

 

I have the same problem on my passenger side, my passengers tend to grab the handle for stability in turns and there are fingernail scratches everywhere.

Minihune-is your custom painted interior more durable? It seems like it would be much more willing to stand up to abuse.
