Losing the Runflats/Looking for tire suggestions

The all-season run-flats have done a decent job getting me through the winter (so far), but I am looking forward to upgrading to non-runflats this spring. I have 17" wheels, and I don't need ultra high performance tires for this MINI. I am thinking the 'grand touring' category would fit my priorities which are long tread wear and low road noise. I thought I would post this here before heading over to the tires, wheels and brakes section.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I don't necessarily know what others will say, but I've got a Countryman and I'm in the same boat. I'm leaning toward the General G-MAX AS-03. General is a Continental company, and my car came with Continentals. The G-MAX AS-03 got good reviews online. It's only $99 per tire at Tire Rack, and it has a very unique tread pattern. They do not come in the stock 205/55-17 size, so I'm planning to go with a 225/50-17. It will be a bit wider, but the same diameter.

Thanks for the suggestion…looks like a good tire at a good price if you want to mount all-seasons. I was thinking about changing to that size as well, as there are many more choices.

Pirelli P7 Cinturo are the best tires I've had. Quiet' excellent handling and 80000. Same club had a set installed for $483 with road hazard warranty.

Never ran on this car but on my prior ride I used Continental Extreme Contact DWS (dry wet snow) tires. Phenomenal grip in all conditions, no road noise and very comfortable on bumps. Not sure if they offer in 17" I had 19".

I'm making the switch this spring too but might change out rims as well.

I run the Conti Extreme Contact DW on my 02 Justa. Great tire at an excellent price point. I don't believe they come in a size compatible for a Paceman with 17" wheels, though.

You can get a 225/50/17 which is compatible. It has the same OD as stock, but a bit wider. A lot of folks are running this size. I plan to do the same this summer. Cheers!

That's great! I think that will be my choice! Thanks! Discount Tire Direct has 'em for $511 shipped. Less than Tire Rack.

Definitely grab those! As stated above, I loved them on my prior car. Enjoy!

I'm resurrecting this thread to see if anybody is running 215/50/17s on their Paceman. Also looking for opinions on buying tires that were manufactured in 2009. They are on closeout at Tire Rack, so I'm assuming they've been stored properly.
