I'm considering of replacing my brakes. What is a good brand to use? Brembo or Wilwood?.... Or just go for the JCW's?,,,,

Wilwood, Brembo, and Stoptech are probably the three most popular. BTW, JCWs are made by Brembo. I went with the Wilwood BBK (front and rear) and I have been pleased with them since day one. They have been on the MINI (2009 MCS) for nearly a year now.

Stoptechs. The options for rotors and pads are through the roof. You will not be disappointed.

Call up Todd at TCE and tell him how much money you want to spend. He won't steer you wrong

Thanks guys for the suggestions! Will surly consider all of it. I'm planning of getting the 6 piston, mono block caliper ones. And I was informed that the JCW aren't mono block and isn't really the high performance brakes. Unlike, bermbo and Wilwood. Is that true?

Why are you stuck on the 6-piston ones? Just interested in looks? The JCW brakes are made by Brembo but the rotors are slightly thinner than an aftermarket Brembo setup. What do you mean by "high performance"? All of the brake calipers (stock S and JCW and aftermarket) are going to generate more braking torque than a set of street tires could handle so your tires are going to be far and above your limiting factor with regards to stopping. More pistons will minimize pad taper although I've never really seen anyone have an issue with it in the mini. Larger rotors will hold more heat. Really though if you're just street driving none of those things are going to matter. If you're looking to improve braking "feel" past a set of fixed calipers then you're really looking at changing pad compounds or a master cylinder brace (which I'm not sure anybody makes for the mini).

Hi
Are you very very fast driver ? or get in track often ?
you have to ask urself this and how much money you want to put on
despite money, if u want just the look and performance, i would go for brembo 6 pistons but i guess u have to change the wheels.
at first, i'm interested in brembo 4 pistons as well, but not sure if it will fit.
so i just go for JCW brake and the result is great !!
work much better than stock like 60% better.
p.s. i prefer Brembo, endless, and ap racing brand

Good luck

Hi Joey!

Thanks for the reply! Yes I will have to replace the rims to 18" to fit the big brakes. I think it works the same with the JCW brakes. That's what I'm planning to start working on before anything else.

You don't need 18s to clear bbk. There are plenty of 17s that clear bbk just fine.

OK, I'll be the one to recommend a different option that is less popular on this site, but that some say is the best (at a minimum they're worth checking out), The Brakeman set (google it). RMW customizes the system and sells a version.

Those are the ones I think I'm aiming for now.

u gonna replace the rims ?
well, http://www.minigenuineparts.co.uk/mi...2BrakeKit.html
this might be another great choices. i believe this one gp2 6 piston brake kit are the same as bmw performance brake kit(http://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/10...E-BRAKE-SYSTEM). i would say the power of the brake is a little better than jcw brake kit and it can give your car very sport looks.(i have it on my z4 e89)

cheers

Just for the record for others, lots of big brake kits fit without going to 18", including Willwood, JCW, and others. The Brakeman kit I mentioned is low profile and even fits under some 15" rims that are used for heavy track duty.
