Dealer Replacing Tires Whichs ones did you pick?

Well the dealer is replacing the tires on my GP seeing they left it outside in freezing temps and the tires are shot because of that. They are giving me two options, both run flats unfortuanly. I was thinking of just getting whatever I can resell for good value and get some Michelin PSS. But heres my options what would you do.

Dunlop SP Sport 01 DSST RunOnFlat

or

ContiSportContact SSR Runflats.

Anyone get either one of these? They are no longer offering the Pontenzas.

The cold ruins the rubber compound in serious summer tires. Google it

This is exactly what I did. I handed them a new set of Michelin PSS (installed for free), and the dealership handed me their brand new set of ContiSport Contact RFT (which were never installed onto the GP). Problem solved

Several gp owners found the tires cracked...with early signs of tread delamination at delivery after the cars were just shipped in cold temps....that is WHY mini is offering the free tire swap...
To the op...Now you might understand WHY folks are so ridiculed for trying yo drive a mini on summer tires in the winter...even with snow!!

Listen to JackMac! I took my run flats off of my recently purchased used 2013 GP and put on Michelin PSS 215/45/17 from Discount Tire Direct for $600 shipped. Much better tire in every aspect. I would have sold you my (4) Conti Sport Contact 3 RSR tires for $400 that had 2000 miles and 10/32 tread remaining on all tires. But my dealer bought them today for $425 in parts credit. Tell them to give you the $800 for the tires and buy the PSS. By the way, if they run some BS that the run flats are OEM approved for U.S. tell them the Michelin PSS are approved as OEM tire in Europe as you can see in this link http://www.minigenuineparts.co.uk/mi...2_336_682.html

Best of luck!

I ended up getting the Contis, I haven't decided if I'm going to put them on in the summer or try and sell them to get something else.

Call me crazy, but when I purchased my GP, I had to sign a waiver in regard to the tires. Rubber will crack in temps below freezing. Super soft rubber, track tires.

I took the Conti Runflats, then sold them and got the BFG Sports which cost less than what I sold the runflats for.

Hi guys, I am considering buying a GP. But the fact that GP only comes with summer tires bothers me. I am unable to find a replacement winter or all-season tires of those specs (215 - 40 -R17).

I want to ask GP owners here - what do they do in winter? Do they not drive the car? Or they change wheels and tires?

I don't want to change the rims, I really like the stock rims. What are my options in tires if I want to keep the stock rims?

Thanks.

Forgive my lack of knowledge here. But aren't Blizzacks specs (205-45-r17) different from stock wheel specs (215 - 40 -R17)? So Blizzacks won't fit well on stock GP wheel as per my understanding.

Thanks for the response guys. Very helpful info. I was planning to get the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position RFT. I want RFT and all season. I don't like the idea of no run-flats and no spare. Also, I like the idea of all-season so I don't have to keep changing tires. What do you guys think about that?

Also, what about TPMS? would TPMS work with different spec tire? Do we need to do anything special to make it work?

Thanks again.
