The lid cover or the gas cap itself ?

Ice can get in the lock pin and then when you unlock it the pin still sticks into the lid hinge section. #7 is the lock pin.

If its the cap and somehow moisture got past the lid around the cap. Try to get to a warm place and try opening it again after it warms up. Then dry off the moisture.

i cant open #17, and i dont really have a place to warm it up, i thought there was a locking pin, i could try to spray soem WD40 in there and see if it helps

when does the pin unlock?

Oh ok. Did not know which one you were talking about. On the right hand side of the cap near the lid. #7 towards the lid. Get some WD40 with a little red straw and see it you can reach it. Most likely there is ice around it and it will not retract. Also you can try unlocking and locking the door to try to free up the lock pin.

Thanks

had the same problem last season. was at costco filling up and i couldn't get the cap off, it was frozen on. everyone was staring at me because it looked like i was doing something inappropriate to the gas cap.....

i put some oil around the seal and didn't have problems after that.
