power steeirng fan question

Happy New Year to all!!!
I was having difficulty with my back up sensor on my newly purchased mcs 2006 convertible. From reading these helpful forums, I looked at the power steering fan as the culprit for blowing out that 5 amp fuse continuously. After noticing that the fan was gunked up full of sand and not spinning, I told myself that I would try to clean it up and lube it since I would have to replace it anyway. I was able to do a pretty god job and it now spins beautifully when I hook it up to a 12v power supply.
After re-installing it while doing an oil change, it still would not spin when I turned the A/c on . I replaced the fuse and it is not blowing and the parking sensor works well now. Is it just the A/c that triggers this fan or is there something else (I just turned the engine on for 1 minute after the oil change just to check the level so the car really doesn't warm up at all). I'm not in a position to drive the car right ow since it is indoors for the winter.

Turn on the A/C.
Wait about 20 seconds or so, it will come on.

Newer fans are bit stronger than older ones with a more powerful fan motor.
