Michelin A/S Alternative for Touring?
Michelin A/S Alternative for Touring?
As the title suggests, anyone have any good input on an A/S tire that has decent grip and long life.
I know with tires, you give up one aspect to better another. I'm just curious to see if anyone has any experience on some good tires that hold decently well in the snow/ice, provide good summer fun, and last more than your typical 20-30 thousand miles.
I know I can check out UTQG ratings and whatnot, but I want consumer reviews and experiences as opposed to manufacturer claims.
I've run Michelin's on all my motorcycles so I'm partial to them. Just curious to see what's out there.
Thanks, cheers, and Merry Christmas.

I just finished up a set of Continental DWS tires. Was right at 50,000 miles on them, which is their warranty mileage. About 2/32nds across the width. If it weren't winter I probably could have squeezed a little more out of them. Plus I have a state inspection coming up next month and they would not have passed. I was pleased with them. Not as grippy as a summer tire obviously, but they did fine in North Caroline weather. Had a little bit of road noise start up for the last 5-6,000 miles, not bad but noticeable.
Replaced them with some Bridgestone RE970 AS tires. I believe they are rated for 40,000 miles. I'm hoping to finally get a second set of rims and tires for the summer, so hopefully the Bridgestones will only be used during the cooler months.

Tires come in different sizes and might limit your search
Consider Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 (H or V speed rated) High Performance All Season tires. A new release by Michelin should work for your needs.

Thanks gents. I'm currently running the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus and love them. I bet the A/S 3s are going to be even better.
Anyone try the Pirelli Cinturato A/S? Has raving reviews, but one noted 'meh' handling. The 700 UTQG rating is very appealing though.

I also like Conti DWS for all seasons. As mentioned, they are warranted to 50,000 miles, but they probably aren't going to last more than 30,000 miles for us. Though I haven't worn a set out yet.
I have the A/S3 on my car and I'm really liking them. I can't really say about wear yet but I did put some mileage on them with the alignment off (toe was pretty far off) on them and they had no significant wear or even any feathering. I was kind of surprised. They seem to have decent grip. I did over 1500 miles in the mountains and never heard a peep out of them. I didn't get to aggressive though. It was kind of hard with the dog in the car and it was chilly out.
