Always sad to lose a fellow MINI owner, but I understand.

You picked a great choice for a substitute (never a replacement). I was deciding between a mazda 3 and MINI when I was in the market as well. That would be the way I would go if I had to say goodbye to my MINI.

I drove a 2008 ms3 for years. Its a lot heavier than the mini, less agile, but a rocket!

If you dont mind me asking, how long did you have it, for how many miles, and what problems was it giving you?
I got my new "Justa" Cooper in April and am still getting a feel for what problems may lurk in my future of Mini ownership.

I first bought it last year in December. 35k miles. 500 miles/2weeks later, clutch is completely out. Heckled with the dealership. .. paid half. $600
40K miles, brakes out. $900
46k miles, victim of death rattles, timing chain assembly. $2300
60k-63k miles wife hits blown tire on freeway, tears hoses out from under engine fluids out,.. engine burned. New engine. $8300. Insurance covered. $500 deductible
66k miles, clutch completely fails on freeway. Faulty clutch assembly + falty workmanship. $1600+$400 for rental.
traded in ASAP for 2013 Mazdaspeed3, 135miles on it with all new car warranties.

Oh also... pieces from the interior started to brake. Both vanity mirrors covers , the center console and the top of the shift **** had broken.

Broken shift ****? That reminds me of the old VW Foxes with the foam rubber "ergonomically shaped" shifters whose upper half used to come off. LoL
