Out of curiosity - under what circumstances would this shield be a desirable addition to one's MINI?
If you go rallying - it might stay on if the front bumper somehow survives off-roading excursions. Though more likely both will get separated from the rest of the car.
If you stay on the road - is it half as aero-beneficial as the GP2 undertray?

Buffalo winters is the reason I got it. It will protect from big chunks of snow, ice, salt water, etc entering the engine bay. I think it is much stronger than the GP2 one and won't rip as easily. I have to say it is really light, so it won't add much weight either. Not sure about how aero-beneficial this one is though...
I don't know where you got the notion that it's stronger than the GP2 and "won't rip as easily" unless you've had one rip from the belly of your engine. I've gone off the track with this thing and was expecting it to tear and it was in absolute perfect condition when I got back off the track and inspected the underside.
The GP2 tray is more aerodynamically efficient than this and likely lighter than this since it's a frp composite piece and not aluminum. It would flex a bit, but it won't break that easily.

This is just my guess since it is made of aluminum, so I automatically assumed it would be. I have had one ripped from my other car when I was pulling out of unplowed street; it was a plastic one. Never opened the box to see what this one looks like in person or used it on the car. I am glad you offered you insight.
