Quick poll - stripes or no stripes for my car?

I almost typed "my cat" and it would have been a valid, if off topic poll.

I am toying with removing my stripes. A quick and sloppy photoshop cloning job produced the photo below with no stripes. What do you guys think? I am undecided. Something makes me think that with no stripes I need to paint the headlight trim or wrap the hood scoop. But then again the stripes kind of bring out the driving lights as well...

Edit: Here is a beautiful mellow yellow mini without stripes and with a black scoop. I like. Of course, he also has the JCW kit. One day....

No stripes, in my opinion it looks cleaner that way.

I'd say remove them from your MINI. Leave them on your cat.

I love the way mine look. I went with 8" wide for each stripe. Aggressive look. I would attach a pic but the app won't let me. Check my gallery or other posts for pics.

I removed the black bonnet stripes from my pepper white R55S. I'm not satisfied with the naked hood. I experimented with black intake duct and a wide black stripe leading back from it, using plastidip, but found that made the hood look stubby and wide.

Come springtime I think I'll try viper stripes...

No stripes. Definitely looks better, not like a toy car (an opinion, not a judgment of anyone with stripes).

I like the white racing stripes on my chili red hardtop way more than I thought I would. They break up the color nicely. I've seen other chili reds and it's "too red" without the stripes. So I'm glad that's all they had left :P

I like that M7 hood scoop too, but they're a little too pricey for me. I'm removing the standard stripes from mine and replacing them with the competition stripes from stripemymini.

I like the stripes you have, they enhance the look of the Mini bonnet curves.

Stripes or Not

There is some history to the wide stripes. John Coopers's F1 cars had wide stripes, so there is tradition to the wider stripes. With the factory placement of the driving lights, the line of the widely placed stripes create a line with balance.

That said, since I didn't have the driving lights, and wanted to be a bit different, my MINI has the Viper stripes. They do break up the expanse of color on the bonnet.

But, what matters most is how the look appeals to you. When you walk up to the car, what look make you appreciate the car the most? The PhotoShop trial is a great tool - and you did a wonderful, undectable job removing the stripes.

IMHO
Looks - keep the stripes or get viper stripes.
Detailing - get rid of any stripes, emblems, black plastic.

Well I decided I would try it. Vinyl is cheap, so putting stripes back on will not be a huge deal. It took about an hour to remove the stripes. I used my fingernail, a hair dryer, goo gone, and a microfiber cloth. When I got done, I ran my random orbital over the hood with some polishing compound, then applied a layer of wax. Unfortunately, if you know where to look you can spot where the stripes used to be.

Can you see it?

There's really no "right" answer to stripes vs. no stripes. Either way, your MINI will look superb. It all comes down to the feeling you want to get when you see your car waiting for you in a parking lot. ;-)

That said, I have the Sport Stripes on mine. Green Flash's sig picture looks really familiar.

I'm usually very pro-stripes, however yours looks very clean and simple without. There's plenty of other black accents that pop out, I almost feel like stripes would be overkill. It's always a tough decision when both options look good

I like the NO STRIPES. Now paint your rocker panels the same body color .

I say yes to both the stripes on the car and cat. I have a pepper white one and I am looking to get some stripes on it (car).
