R52 Rear window defrost
Rear window defrost
Just purchased a 2006 Cooper S convertible. The rear window defrost / defogger doesn't seem to work. One thing I noticed is that when I push the button to turn it on the LED on it is red (all the other heater control lights are green). Is red it's regular colour (or is it trying to tell me something)? Anyone know where the relay for this thing is located so I can check it out.

Not much information to go by. Did it come with the automatic climate control package and do the rest of the climate control functions operate properly and does the top cycle as it should? The wiring harness is all bundled together for the most part separated by plastic connectors one of which could be at fault or the fuse/relay gone bad. The main fuse/relay box is under the bonnet, back right, next to the intake box.
Below are some resources that you will find very helpful.

I would check to make sure the little wire connection is connected to the rear heating element metal tab.
It located on the side of the rear window on the inside. I have seen people replace the convertible top and then forget to plug this back in.

Checked the fuse in the bonnet box and it was missing. Stuck one in there and now everything is working. Thanks for all the replies. I wish all repairs were this simple. Now on to figuring out why my back up sensor fuse keeps blowing on me.
It's not that simple. After a successful session like that, selecting an appropriate beer to celebrate with can be quite stressful. Porter, Ale, Stout (oatmeal, milk, cream) IPA...makes me feel tired and thirsty just thinking about it.
