AUX Shuts off when I charge my iPod/Phone

Hi all,

I have this really weird problem with my R50 Mini Cooper, it has a stock Alpine radio unit and I recently bought an AUX Kit off ebay and had it connected to the unit.

The AUX option shows up and I connected my iPod to it through the 3.5mm jack and it worked perfectly.. however, the AUX shuts off and immediately switches to the FM or CD changer when I charge the anything with a usb cable attached to the car lighter adapter......as if the aux conflicts with the lighter adapter..

This left me no choice but listening to the iPod without charging it coz when i charge it the AUX option will be gone unless I unplug and replug everything

any help is much appreciated!

I believe you are getting a ground loop

you can buy a gizmo that fixes the problem

Amazon.com: PAC Ground Loop Isolator for 3.5 MM Applications: Automotive Amazon.com: PAC Ground Loop Isolator for 3.5 MM Applications: Automotive

search on ground loop here and get many discussions
