Upgrades to the GP?

So Ive look through the post here and nothing has help me any haha. Coming from an Evo where i knew everything about what you can do and what you are looking to get was easy.

What that being said, Since the car is still pretty much new i like to keep it where i could still used the warranty as i can. What intake do you guys recommend, are FMIC worth the money, and i am going to keep the exhaust how it is but if down pipes make a good difference ill might end up doing that as well. At this point i have the jb+ set at the 10 o'clock setting but might go 12-1 o'clock in the summer time when i bring the car back out.

Check out our build thread for ideas as we've done a bunch and kept it reliable without voiding the warranty.

To get more turbo sound would a K&N filter do the trick or would i need something like an open element intake system? I heard that the open air one's you can lose power.

I have the K&N Filter and it does give a better whoosh sound from the diverted valve. I couldn't hear it when it was stock.

We don't recommend the K&N filters due to the oil, we use these dry panel filters

But they won't give you much sound. For sound the most cost effective way to get it is with this intake:

The Helix Stepped Core Intercooler requires no trimming and has independently proven performance.

Both the Forge and Helix will fit the GP without trimming. But I do recommend after installing ANY intercooler on ANY JCW car make sure the studs from the JCW badge don't rub on the intercooler as they stick through the grill and could damage it.

I would also like to know what the stock exhaust sounds like with the akrapovic down pipe. I am looking at a Renntech tune and supposedly there is a GP with the tune and down pipe according to Renntech.

I think Way has the Akrapovic exhaust on the OEM downpipe right now. You might ask him how that is.

I don't think its gonna be bad at all. Like on our N54s with the down pipe the sound really didn't change that much. Mine just popped more and maybe a slight sound increase. I had my dad drive my GP down the street today and the exhaust is quiet. I don't anyone needs to worry about getting an exhaust ticket with a down pipe. I had straight pipes on my 335 for awhile and never got bothered. Ill be getting a DP for my car at some point this spring. I saw yours in the showroom when i drove by!

It should be locked. The battery was dead. They put it on a deep cycle charger.
