The F56 is unveiled!

MotoringFile has the official press release and photos. Sounds like they'll be getting behind the wheel of one soon. I think it will be shown maybe tomorrow at the LA Auto Show and one in Europe as well. I really like the interior. It's hard to tell about the exterior, you probably have to see it. It's about 4 inches longer and 1.5 inches wider, no taller, weighs 60 more pounds. About a second faster 0-60, and the AT is faster than the MT. There are some very cool options. I'll be saving my money.

It will no doubt divide opinion - but the nose isn't as bad as the pre-release shots made out.... and I think the JCW will look b*tchin'!

Interior looks nice too...

my 2011 S ran about a 6.6 stock. new S is rated at 6.8. And i hate the new tail lights. just looks like they said magnify x1.5. and i don't like the halo running lights. But i LOVE the interior.

The interior is pretty decent, the big bar in the front end that every new car with an otherwise attractive grill, has, is absolutely retarded and "pedestrian safety" is the dumbest front end design catalyst I've ever heard of. The tail lights are hideous and out of place like they changed them just for the sake of changing them, but couldn't make them work with the shape of the car's rear end. But most importantly: Do I see window controls on the DOORS?!?!?!? HOLY ****, WHERE THEY BELONG?!?!? Bout time.

This whole post sums up my thoughts. Interior is definitely a huge improvement..

I thought the exterior was verging towards cartoonish in the spy shots...But it's starting to grow on me Interior is still a little too serious though, I'm not so sure it even matches the outside...

I like the interior but the tail lights are a bit odd. I think the cooper front looks better than the S one, the S looks to busy.

I hope that the photo of the tail light is just deceiving...
The direction of the Mini is bloated..it is getting larger every model year. MiniMax?

I'm sure it will be lovely in person. Will be there on 21st to see it first hand. Some nice details here and there and probably more to discover. The interior is very nice but part of me says a little too grown up for the personality of the car. I hope the car doesn't loose it's young and fun attitude.

What got my attention above all else was the front end protruding beyond the headlamps in side view. Almost wanted say F*** the pedestrians.

Hope the 60lbs weight gain doesn't effect the drive negatively....at this point it weights more then the R53 with that gain.....and that car had a cast iron block.

The interior looks decent, but I absolutely hate the exterior. Particularly the taillights and the front end. 3/10 would not buy

I also don't like anything about the front end, where does the bumper begin and end. I love the way Mini's look now, even the R53 looks gorgeous!

I (like many) like the Cooper front better than the MCS with the protruding lower grille. The interior is stunning. Notice how the central circle is flanked by 2 rectangular vents, looks like the Mini wings. Not sure how much stuff I'll want to spring for in the infotainment system. I agree the fuel guage lights to the right of the speedo look a little overdone. Can't wait for some hands on/driving stories maybe from the LA Auto show tomorrow. BTW there's a huge 250 photo gallery of these 2 cars up on MF today. Unfortunately they said they had to ditch the slideshow because of heavy traffic so you can only enlarge one at a time. Some different shots of the dash.

It looks pretty good overall, however I'm concerned about this getting larger trend for every new generation. It is a MINI after all and the size is a key component. Need more room? there is the Clubman, Countryman……
Just saying'

interior

On another note, it looks like a good deal of BMW is creeping into the interior. Dash padding flowing into the console area, switches in the armrests. Is it heading toward conventionality? Quirky and simple is MINI, don't lose the charm.

They said it's 4 inches longer, 1.5 inches wider, the same height. Safety laws made the front overhang 2" more to separate the bumper from the motor or something. There's an inch more in the cabin (legroom) and an inch more of boot. The wheelbase is 1" more. The wheels are still on the corners wrt the suspension. It's looking like the Mini is solidifying its place as the premium compact sport sedan.
