What number? and why?
Kyoo's "Show Us Your AX/Track Mini!!" got me thinking, we've been using the same number "94" for quite a while. So what number do you use on your MINI and why?
We started with track days where numbers aren't that important. Some tracks want you to have numbers, but there's nothing stopping you taking any number and they don't have to be unique. We got a "94" meatball to use, 94 because we were married in 1994. (It'll be 20 years next year.)
When we started autocrossing, the number had to be unique within the class, we found 94 was available, so I used that. Cathy needed her own number, so for the first event she used "63", because I was born in 1963. Having different numbers like that was impractical, and at nationals one number has to be 100+ the other, that seemed like a good idea, so Cathy started using "194".
We got modular magnetic numbers numbers with 1634. The 6 can be turned to make a 9, so that covered 94, 63 and 194. If necessary we could also use 43, 46, 49, 64, 93 and several hundreds numbers if we needed something unique.
When we started with the BMW club, "194" was available for Cathy, but 94 wasn't, the best available was "394", so that's what I use. I'm hoping "94" will become avilable for next year.

i've been using 56 since I got the MINI.. because.. R56 lol. not that creative I know, but it was available and I don't really find any number particularly "cool" or desirable to use. I'm aiming for top 20 in index in my region next year, and if you hit that you get to use that # as your autox number for the next year
I have used a 14 with a top and bottom chevron (^v) since 2004 when I returned home from Iraq the first time.
Why: It is the Army's way of marking gun trucks to identify different units... The 1 being for 1st Battalion, the 4 for the 4th company switched to numeric (D co.) and the chevrons represent platoon ( ^=1st v=2nd >=3rd <=4th ^v over and under the numbers=5th and <> around the numbers would be headquarters)
After having good luck for the most part during the initial invasion of Iraq, I try to carry some of that good luck with me on the track.
